Cops respond to a dude trapped under a Honda after the factory bottle jack failed (didn't use jack stands)

cop - "that was a first for me" .... dude that nearly got crushed to death - "yeah...me too"

Should be a PSA for always using jackstands

I mean it's bad enough people crawl under a vehicle only supported by a floor jack, but one only supported by a bottle jack?? Might as well leave a suicide note first

I always throw a tire underneath a control arm or low part of the frame or something, paired with jackstands.

Few Corvettes were always tricky to get high enough, then when you did, were light enough to move around when you wrenched on it.

Think a lot of us do the tire thing by default

There's a small group of us that play together, but I'm sure there are other threads where others play as well.

yeah I usually put the tire there too or under the steel IFS skid, or now with my front bumper I'll just roll it and wedge it under that lol.

If only working on one side I'll usually double floor jack it.

I have learned to never put the jack stand too close to the wheels if the tires are still on and you intend on turning them...bumping a jack stand with a tire is some sketchy shit lol. At least the tires were still on though.

Yeah. I wonder if I should just try to find some stock arms or just buy some UCA's from SPC. Will uppers fail unexpectedly like the lowers?

They can but it's not due to design like the LBJs, if the uppers fail it's because they were neglected for some time I would imagine. But it would be about equally as bad if one did fail on you at speed. Probably be easier to trail fix a broken upper though.

Best way to search for Tacomaworld info and threads is to use Google (not the search feature on TW). The search feature, even if you are specific, sometimes doesn't find what you're looking for or it still gets lost in a sea of other threads.

Typing what you're searching for into Google with "tacomaworld" at the end usually brings it up faster
