...OR.. drive around without one until you become one with your truck and not need it

This is the state of mine... been that way since I bought it thinking one crack won't effect it too badly. I was wrong.

20200814_135250.jpg the left side of the break flops and moves position so the only thing I can use the lil fish eye lens, which is pointed at my rear tire and quarter panel so I can back up it parking stalls without turning my head. Otherwise I never use that mirror and just turn my head

Swingouts are tricky. I can weld on a swingout kit to anything but the problem will be longevity. Some bumpers aren’t gusseted in a way to support the weight of a swingout for the life of the bumper. This would/could cause fatigue cracks that may not appear until years down the road. If the vendor you plan on buying the bumper from has the option of a swingout, I’d say just get it through them since they’d most likely engineer the bumper accordingly. For something custom built or otherwise specific, it’ll take some figuring out on my end but I’m sure we can get it done. I can always add extra internal gussets to a preexisting bumper too.

I tend to overbuild things anyway. I’m no engineer but my experience in breaking things has given me a high threshold for what I think will hold over time.

We'll stick to sliders then only

I never thought about the bumper not being built to handle a swing out which makes total sense.

    LOL

    FUCKING PEOPLE

    Listening to this couple outside my office say "how ridiculous we are, etc." because;

We got them a 12% rate, and because the credit score we pulled is wrong

YOU CAN'T PULL the wrong score, dumbshit.

Your score is tied to your name+DOB+social which will be tied to anything reported to any and all credit bureaus.

    If you're a 526 and a 552, that's what you are.

There’s more to it than people realize. That’s why a lot of vendors tell you that they can’t add a swingout to a non-swingout bumper after the fact. The reality is you can but it takes a lot more than running a few beads to burn a bracket on. technically it’ll hold and function but everybody wheels different and treats their stuff differently so some guys with a homemade swingout will never have an issue while another guy will start breaking stuff on his first weekend out.

From a company liability standpoint I understand the hesitation. From a guy that builds shit out of his garage: I’ll tell you the risks- if you want me to proceed, it’s all on you once you leave my driveway.

You didn't tell me of any risks :pout:

The risk that others run into when they slam their door open on my sliders

It's happened twice, and a car cutting me off in a construction area.

Take a look at my Tacoma build thread when I built the rear Coastal bumper with swingout. I still added an additional brace because the wing exteding forward on the swingout hinge side was flexing. Once the brace was in place, it was rock solid.

I'll most likely be going with Coastal bumpers for the 4Runner. Just not going to order the swingouts, I'll make my own this time around. That's what I did when I rebuilt the Tacoma swing out.

I'd hit it. With my truck. Then I'd reverse.

I actually got to meet her down in San Diego 15 years back. She's fairly well-spoken and extremely sweet... but meh, nothing spectacular about her.

    She's a Hilton, that's special.

She's not dumb tho and certainly was able to sell herself, even with being rich as fuck. And she is pretty cute still.
