Can the JBL HU be easily replaced?

I am considering upgrading my vehicle and a couple of my options have the JBL HU, which I hear it's a pain to deal with.

Currently, I have a Android HU designed for the Sienna, which worked perfectly through plug and play in my Tacoma, which had the Entune Premium HU.

It's working great so if not compatible I won't even consider those vehicles lol

 

The jbl definitely can be replaced
Needs a fancier wiring harness than the non-jbl, but many members use the Maestro RR harness anyway, which does work with the JBL. You can also use the PAC RP4.2-ty11 I believe, if your radio is not maestro compatible

 

Thanks for the info! If you were to replace the jbl to a non jbl tacoma premium hu, would a harness be required?

 

That probably wouldn’t end up working very easy. And definitely wouldn’t be worth it, because that head unit isn’t anything speacial

 

I’m trying to wire up a JBL Taco with the TO2 harness and we’re only getting audio from the tweeters, I don’t see how to get the amp turned on, maestro instructions tell us to connect the RCAs but I don’t see those connections anywhere

 

What radio? The RCA’s will go into the RCA outputs on the aftermarket radio

 

Avh-w4400nex with a maestro and the TO2 harness. There weren’t connections in the dash i could find for the white and gray Rca connectors so i spliced those into harness but now there’s only sound from the tweeters it’s like the amp isn’t lowering on or isn’t getting input

 

haha okay I figured the RCAs out shouldn’t have snipped those, but now I don’t think the amp is turning on? Or maybe it is, I’m getting sounds from all the speakers but it’s very quiet

 

If you’re getting any sound, the amp is on.

 

Man am I an idiot, I did everything i could to sabotage that install. Had the harness wired up perfectly and connected within ten mins minus the gray and white RCAs, it thought those plugged into the vehicle somewhere.... couldn't find where... didn't recheck the installtaion instructions.... just cut them off and wired them up. then i was getting only sound from the tweeters. gahhh re read the instructions, spliced the RCAs back on connected them to the Front speaker outs and then i was getting a lot of tweeter and a little sound from the other speakers... finally found out that I had the LPF ON on the Fwd speaker outs, turned that off and got it working. 10 min install turned into 2 hours lmao
