Shudder after shifting

My first post as a new member. I own a 2005 Tacoma Double Cab V6 Automatic (111,000 Miles). I have an issue that has just started about a month ago-after shifting to 2nd gear there is a shudder that feels like the transmission (also happens in 3rd gear). It is more prominent at lighter acceleration. Just had the transmission completely flushed. Alas replaced the PCV, air filter and spark plugs. Have never used truck for towing (1 owner). Any suggestions or should I just drive and not worry about the shudder??

Sounds like a possible torque converter.

An oem converter is like 2k

 

If that was the first ever flush you should have dropped the pan and cleaned it first . I’m no mechanic though . @gearcruncher
You might have pushed sludge and metal filings into the critical parts of the slush box .

Thanks- Lesson learned on having the Pan dropped. I was told the ATF looked good and was not burned.

 

There is no slipping in any gear at the present time.

 

You could always drain and fill the pan and add some Lubegard

I have an 06 with 120k miles and my torque converter just started to shudder, I have never towed, don't beat on it but nevertheless I have it. My trans fluid was changed 5 years ago, with 92k miles when Toyota changed my frame. I don't think your shudder is from changing your fluid, it just seems to happen. I just changed all my fluid by flushing it with the trans pump, disconnected the cooler line to pump it out, and added lube guard. It's still doing it but a guy on YouTube said it could take up to 2k miles of driving to stop it. I have my fingers crossed, everyone I've talked to has said it won't hurt anything to drive it with the shudder, but it annoys the crap out of me since my truck has always driven perfectly with no vibrations.

 

Vibration is getting worse. The Interior and seats vibrate now. Took truck to Toyota dealership today and they said the driveshaft was bad and need replacing. Taking it to a driveshaft shop to have them look at it and get their take.

 

What was the culprit of your vibe ?

 

The culprit was the Universal Joints. One was frozen and the other was partially frozen. Had them replaced and the drive shaft balanced. Smooth as silk now.
