Oh yes. I probably would've liked it better if not for the huge jump up. I mean, I had a lot of experience riding bigger, heavier bikes, I just hadn't owned them before. Settled back into a 600 and liked that much better. Then to a 900. Sold that, then into Harleys. Still haven't had as many bikes as @fatfurious2 though.

I've only owned three street bikes two of which I still have. My first was a GSX-R600, which I think was a poor choice... even though I had some moto experience. I managed to be somewhat responsible on it. Also did a couple track days along w/advanced rider training which helped tremendously. Sold that after four years and picked up the SV, then decided to try out a little cruiser for more comfort and got the Bolt.

Hopefully next spring I'll get another one - likely a sumo.

My first bike is truly one no one in their right mind would have had for their first. 1981 Kawasaki GPZ-750 with a Wiseco 900 big bore kit, degreed cams, flat slide carbs, Yoshimura 4 into 1 exhaust with the baffle cut back to only about 3 inch length, and a one tooth bigger rear sprocket. Traded my 1974 Dodge Challenger for it even up. Challenger did need work and was starting to rust pretty bad. I only had the bike about 6 months when the electrical gremlins began showing up.

    Well...

Some of you were curious as to why I am thinking about selling my little Ninja EX250.

    This is why:

    5EC992D2-3FD1-45D7-B44D-B358DD4D71E8.jpg

    F34B1EC4-C870-47E0-8A6B-48494463BB06.jpg

So, I’ve been wanting a CBR600F4i for a long time, because they are old enough to fit my budget and be attainable, but also modern enough to have fuel injection and other good stuff.
They are perfect for the person who can’t afford a 600RR.

The riding position is not unlike the Ninja - it’s slightly upright and not uncomfortable.

This particular bike popped up last Sunday on my local CL and I immediately sent the guy a message... then another... then another.
I wasn’t hearing anything back from him and started to get nervous that he may have sold it.

So I sent another message on Monday, and didn’t hear back.
I sent one final message on Wednesday morning and he finally responded. The bike was still available but he had appointments for people to see it all afternoon and evening. I had one chance.

I told him I would take my lunch break now and come see it, if he had the time. I knew it would sell fast, so I was kind of relentless with the poor guy, lol.

He agreed and I jumped in the Taco and sped over to see it. I made an offer on the spot and we struck a deal. His phone was blowing up while I was looking the bike over, so I know other people wanted it.

Long story short, I absolutely love it. It’s a 2005 with 12,900 miles, adult owned.

    ;)

We ended up settling on $3,200. It has low miles but the tires are old, and it’s got some cheapo LED turn signals and taillight that need to be replaced.
Also, the front brake rotors are mismatched for some reason.

Thanks!! I feel like I’m living in a dream. I was just sitting on it inside my garage last night and smiling.

    Thanks everybody!

I just took it around the city for a 30-mile scoot, and to be honest, it feels like too much bike for me. The available power on tap is kind of terrifying, and I’m handling the throttle with the lightest possible pressure.

Is that something I will become acclimated to and get more comfortable?

I think you will grow into it. For me personally I think it is that very fear that has kept me in check all these years on these bikes.... Cant do much if an asshole kills you, but we can try and control our wrist throttles and that does a hell of a whole lot as far as safety and life before death...

you log way more miles than the majority of the crazy speed daemon fucks out there honestly...

Just build up your confidence... You will love to play with that extra HP ponies you just purchased, I guarantee it...

Awesome, thanks for the advice and feedback. Yeah, I’ve put over 5,000 miles on that little Ninja since March.
I figured I was ready to try something bigger.

When I had it out today, I made it onto a wide open road and gave it some juice in second gear - not a lot, just a calculated twist of the throttle. It honestly felt like it was going to pick the front end off the ground.
Thank God I decided to wear brown pants today.

The answer to my previous question is: I can fit three 4-packs in each bag.

You’ll get used to it. When I test rode Harleys I started out on the 48 special and it felt ok, but then I jumped on to the street bob and my first throttle twist I near shit myself a little too. But once you get used to it you’ll love it. It’s better to have a little extra than not enough

Congrats on the purchase. Great upgrade from the Ninja. I think you got a pretty good deal. I see RR models for sale on CL and FB all of the time, but not a lot of F4i models. When they show up, they go fast. I think the F4i is one of the best sport bikes for street riding. Though, I may be partial.

You'll get used to the power but like the saying goes "with great power comes great responsibility". Keep in mind that bike can get you in trouble before your brain catches up. I've gotten to ride a lot of bikes through the years and one thing I have learned is you need to respect them from day one. If you don't they have ways to teach you respect and it's usually a hard lesson.

Great information and advice, thanks to all for the feedback.

I feel like I did things correctly up to this point. I took the MSF course and passed it, wear ATGATT, and spent countless hours learning on the 250 Ninja.

I can’t wait to go for another scoot!
