Good times in Breckenridge on the Django. It’s easy to forget how fun blue trails are on short travel rippers.
Damn smoky though. Ashes on the car when I got back.

    That looks amazing!

Quick question. If you could only choose one 10-15 mile loop to ride in that area of CO, which would it be? I'm currently planning to ride the 13 mile Little Scraggy Loop near Bailey, but any advice on something better would be much appreciated. If you have any recommended camping spots near where I end up riding, that would be very cool, too! (the ride will be on the 28th of August if you're interested in joining me).

Nope. What the market will bear.

Different story b/c it was used but I own a 1997 GT Vertigo, got it in 2003 and I've not ridden much at all. If I sold it today, you bet your ass I'll expect quite a bit more than the $50 it cost me.

I went for a ride this afternoon after work. I think, maybe... this was a mistake. I've been on vacation for two weeks with no riding and the worst possible diet, so i'm sure that didn't help either. After it was all said and done, I'm still glad I went but be careful out there and stay hydrated!

Can you please put this bike up for sale? I’d love to see how that works out for you for entertainment purposes only!

Not planning on it, but seeing as the same year with no decals, bad paint and some of the original parts missing just sold for $250..and the frame-fork combo alone sell for about $150 or so routinely, I think I'm confident I could get more than $50 for something all original except grips and brake pads. My chrome could use a polishing but it's in good condition. Wheels are straight with no dings either. Oh, the same seat my bike has just sold for $55-60 from someone I know.

Sounds strange but this year even 1990s GT stuff has been going up in value.

I realized while pulling into the trail yesterday that I am the definition of the stereotypical mountain biker. Toyota Tacoma hauling a full suspension bike loaded onto my 1UP rack because my rooftop tent is taking up the bed. 5.10 shoes, osprey pack, and most importantly a mustache.

Ahh so it’s more of a collectors item. I read it originally thinking you were riding it and the people that were buying it would be doing the same.

My particular one, not really ridden so still has even most of the wear items it came with. Honestly if I was willing to part it out I might get more all in all than as a whole, but that's if you find enough people to want each part etc.

You would be surprised though, BMX has people just as into it as old car enthusiasts. Check my post a few pages back for a couple of my bikes, one which was a restoration project.

Back then the bike wasn't anything special but nostalgia can do it. 1980's GT bikes have been expensive for a long time and now it's trickling down to 90's stuff..plus people that want to ride this year aren't finding new bikes easily if at all so the secondary market rose, plus having more disposable income in some cases.

Did a shake down run of the mudflap and pedals today, ya know, for science. Hard to test the mudflap with no mud though

    not enough.
    Tacoma? Check
    Full suspension bike? Check
    1up rack? Check
Everything else, not a check. So I guess I don't fit the mold.

Thanks for the reply. I've pretty much talked myself into one and it's hard to beat the value of $1500 for a 1x11 deore setup, though the thought to buy frame only and build it is a temptation I usually give into. In southern Michigan fresh snow is a one day thing, then it's packed/ice or slush. Two winters on 29x2.4 studded has me jonesin' for some 4+ rubber.

Fatties are always heavy until the cost gets silly. I think salsa specs the large at under 35lbs, which is pretty good for the cost considering the weight of the tires.

    My Django review...
Changed a few things up since then. ‘21 140mm ebike Fox 34 Grip2 vvc, absolute black oval chainring, red deity grips.

Man, that’s a hard question! So much to ride it really spends on your skill, preferred trails type, time, fitness, etc...
I’ll send you my number. I can’t do the 28th, I’m a teacher and school will have started. But that weekend I’m free.
I took @honda50r out for a ride when he was in CO, think he enjoyed himself.

And she’s sold! Let the demos begin.

The guy was from Guatemala, and had to sell his 29er before moving here and just wanted to get out and ride with his friends. Didn’t even test ride it before handing me the money! Haha
