Tranny Gear Hunting, What to do?

A luxury German CUV is in a different league to a cheap Toyota truck.

Trade the Tacoma in for a new F150. Those 10 speeds are silky smooth for at least the first couple of years.

 

I did this...In all seriousness though had a 2018 sport 4x4 (still in the family) and didn't feel an issue with the gear shifting.

 

Yep, vftuner + tactrix + tunepack.

 

get a pedal commander or ovtune. the pedal commander will make the electronic throttle more sensitive so you don't have to floor it to accelerate up a hill.

also, can ovtune be used with the 2.7L auto?

 

Am I supposed to be impressed that you deal in *gasp* micron measurements? Not uncommon at all, it could be as simple as installing a filter on a faucet. Vague bragging usually means the person is trying to make something seem much more than it is.

Go ahead and consider yourself a perfectionist, it actually proves you have no idea what constitutes perfection.

 

If a "perfectionist" is lookin for a solution in the Tacoma, they're not a perfectionist.

 

The only perfect truck is the Ridgeline. Consumer Reports told me so.

 

The only way your going to get perfection in a automobile is to go German. German auto makers are truly perfectionists if left alone. Mercedes ever since chrysler got involved has been slipping a bit over the past decade or so you but they try real hard. You have to buy a AMG to get true perfection. Porsche is another near perfect auto maker, the new 2021 Turbo has a zero to 60 of 2.3 seconds and is utterly sterile and clinical when it comes to handling.

In reality there is no such thing as a perfect car. It's all in what your willing to tolerate. The Germans seem to tolerate a lot less lol.
