...just to look, 'cause my dad brought in his '97 Taco to get a new catalytic converter (he needs it to pass the smog tests).

I checked out this '09 TRD:OR Access Cab, and noticed two things about it.

    1. It didn't have the funny lookin' "flux capacater" subwoofer thing in the back. I thought those were standard? (If not, good! They look kinda funny.)

    2. This particular Taco had a power-outlet in the bed of the cab (for generators and stuff like that). Is that something that's standard? SR5? TRD? I've never seen that before on a Taco.

The outlet is TRD i think

In the bed of the cab? I'm confused. You mean the inverted in the bed of the truck? Thats stock and only available on the TRDs.

Power outlet is on TRD packages. Flux Capaciter is the JBL option (only with some TRD packages I think)... however I think they stopped making them due to issues. If you do get an '09... do NOT get the JBL, put that money toward aftermarket stuff... can do much much better.

    lol

Sorry about that. I was typing this real fast before I stepped out for a bit. It's in the bed. I barely glanced at it, but if I recall, it was mounted on the right-side, close to the tailgate.

What, pray tell, is a "JBL" package? I know it's got to do with the sound system (if I remember correctly). If so, I wouldn't need it. Just the aux jack for my iPod and I'm good to go.

Not sure but I think I have it. It's a subwoofer (or something) taking alot of cargo space up behind the back seats.

JBL is an audio manufacture. The "JBL package" is just that... JBL audio components (head unit, door speakers, flux capacitor sub). Except it sucks worse than Bose, and there's been a lot of issues with the subwoofer crackling, poping, ect due to a poor amplifier used. Best of my knowledge, there is no stock iPod interface that I'm aware of. However, it is easy to install one.

The JBL packages is new to '09s as well.

So then it's not mandatory for an '09 to have the flux capacitor, then? Good.

Uh the '08 TRD's have steering controls too? Also the side airbags... as long as there is a shutoff and you don't forget if you go wheeling, as if you go over a certain angle they deploy thinking the truck is rolling...

It comes with the TRD option. It's a 100/400 watt power converter. I have yet to use it for anything.

So the Sales guy was a dirtbag....Hmmmmm..Must of been one of those trucks where the window sticker fell off from the humidity. I could see where that could get overlooked. All that money Toyota spends on making pretty brochures that list all the different options and packages, such a terrible waste. Toyota should of used that money and gave you a tutor so nothing got overlooked.

You fall right into the catagory with the ones who post and ask "DID I GET A GOOD DEAL?" ,"SHOULD I OF WAITED FOR A BETTER PRICE?" AFTER they bought the truck. That kinda goes in the "It's a tad to late for that question" file. Should of,could of,would of goes right in the truck bed and then let the wind blow it out onto the freeway.

My 09 doesn't have steering wheel controls for the AC. It only has steering wheel controls, the same exact controls that were on my 2005 Tacoma TRD.
