I am looking at getting a scan tool for my 2005 Tacoma. Looking to spend up to $200. Any recommendations.

BlueDriver Bluetooth Scan tool. They're on Amazon. That thing has so much information it isn't even funny. Hooks right to your phone too. As recommended by Scotty Kilmer and ChrisFix (and they don't get along well). It is $99.

Scan Guage II in both my vehicles. Don't care to clutter up my phone with more stuff.

Another vote for BlueDriver. For the money to value ratio it’s hard to beat. It has a lot of good features, more then what you would expect for 100 bucks.

A third vote for blue driver. Glad to hear other members like it...it was somewhat of an impulse buy for me & I didn't shop around, but it's definitely done everything I've ever needed it to.

Snap on scan tools are not 200 bucks They are substantially more.

    Duh!

@whatstcp was talking about ratchets as an example.

Why would you reference a ratchet when the topic is scan tools? Sorry I don’t always understand internet edict

Reread his post. It's called an analogy.

As in the expensive to cheap ratchet comparison is analogous to the different quality scan tools available. How you use it determines the one to select.

Maybe you should read the ops post. He asked for opinions on a good scan tool for around 200. Do you have anything useful to add other then your analogous?

WTF you yapping about? Do yourself a favor and walk away now. It was an example of when you should spend more on an item, versus when you can buy cheap.

I came to this thread to read the recommendations, not read your stupid arguments about nothing.

I want so much to get in here, but I know I shouldn't...

I'll just add Blue Driver +1
Great tool, lots of info, worth the $100.

    Richard,
Do you have anything to add other than being an arrogant, condescending penile glans?

Analogies... They're (they are) useful and have their (possessive) place. @whatstcp 's analogy was a great example describing price differences.

So you don't have another hissy fit and whine that I haven't (have not) contributed: I'll say that I have a bafx scan tool. And it does most of what I need. It won't read tpms or abs codes though. Decent and inexpensive otherwise.

Agree except for one small point. For $30 I'd just get a scan tool, and have it on hand 24/7 rather than even bothering making a trip to an autozone type place and waiting on line.
