Hi everyone, new to Tacoma’s and the forum. I recently purchased a 2014 Tacoma 2wd. The previous owner did a great job with the build but it makes a noise above 40mph. It’s high pitched, seems to get louder the more gas I press and goes down when I let off the gas and no noise under 40 mph. I opened my windows but it seems like the noise might be coming from inside or maybe under the truck?

If you can get past Scotty's screaming you will find some good advice in these videos. This probably won't be the last time you need to identify noises from your truck. so the tool might be a good investment for you.

 

That should help me pin point where the noise is coming from. Thank you

Welcome to TW! My uneducated guess by looking at the pic of your build would be failing wheel bearings.

that lift will wearing them out fast

 

Why you said that? Look like he got a spindle lift?

 

well, with big lift, means bigger heavier tires than the OEM parts are made for, so they wear out faster. Are you saying this isn’t the case?

Not sure what would make that noise when wind goes across it but it sure acts like wind issue. Ah, just looked at ur truck again maybe the light bar? Try adjusting it and see if noise changes. If not to hard maybe remove it temporarily and see what happens..... let us know.

 

I adjusted the light bar and the noise is gone. It didn’t sound like wind noise but glad that was it
