Wheels and suspension question

Hello everyone!

I have a regular cab 5 lug 4 cylinder Tacoma (work truck special). Picked up bilstein 4600s from a third gen and I have a few questions;

With no lift, the 4600s should work with no issues correct? From what I’ve read, it seems fine. I also have the UCAs from the third gen and do not know if they will swap over.

For wheels, I’m looking at the procomp 51s from 4wheelparts. 15x8 -19 offset. I’ve heard that some 15s don’t clear the brakes so I want to make sure before pulling the trigger.

I'm not sure if 6 lug stuff fits 5 lugs, I'm almost positive nothing swaps over

 

This. The 6 lug / 5 lug interchange is 100% no bueno AFAIK.

 

Yeup, nothing swaps over bud, time to flip those parts.

 

Oh wow! Not even the 4600 shocks? I thought I read something here that said the shocks were ok. Hmm so for a daily, what would you guys suggest on that front?

 

The rear maybe, I gave away some 6 lug rear shocks to a 5 lug guy who swore they would work, never heard from him after so who knows. You have the shocks so remove your old ones and compare them to the 6 lugs, you want the compressed and extended lengths to be exact or pretty damn near.

For the front, you don't have that many options. Peruse the stickied threads at the top of the 5 lug subforum for more info and options. Some of the options no longer exist tho, as the 5 lug aftermarket support is drying up

 

Ok I got some homework to do then. Is there a rim guide somewhere for the 5 lug? Thanks for the info everyone!

4600 is just a model number with various fitments. The 5 lug version is 36mm, the 6 lug is 46mm, and very likely other differences as well.

 

You don't even tell us the year of your truck. Several wheels will work, including other Toyota wheels. Plenty of threads right here in this forum to review.

Whoops sorry guys, 2007.

I did see the RAV4 wheels, but no luck finding any in my area at the moment.

 

I went for an old school look, using a set of spare tire wheels painted up and adding SS trim rings. The 235 75 15 tires add 1" of real ground clearance, no rubbing

 

I've had two 2nd generation 5 lugs, one with RAV4 wheels and one with Highlander wheels.
Both were straight swaps, just bolt on - just need the right type of lug nuts.

 

Wait, does 5 lug only refer to the 2wd versions of the Tacoma? Or any SR model? I have a 2016 SR 4x4 manual. Does that mean 6 lug parts won't fit my truck?

 

5 lug means your wheels only have 5 lug nuts. Pretty sure they don’t make 4x4s in the 5 lugs.

 

Yep, no 5 lug tires on mine. Came with the "black satins". Very classy.

 

What suspension setups are you running? Both trucks look good!

 

Both trucks have unmodified stock suspensions.
The silver one had 235 70 R16 tires.
The pyrite mica has 225 70 R16 tires

 

So I’m now looking at mild lift options on the thread. I noticed that none mention the need for any special shocks and UCAs; is that correct with regards to the Procomp, FatBob, readylift kits? I am more than likely going to go with Bilstein 4600 shocks

Already picked up blackened headlights, fog lights, pro grill, and a paint matched bumper. Hunting for RAV4 wheels at the moment.

 

So update for anyone that cares lol. Going for spacers up front and looking at third gen leafs in the rear. Is there any difference between 5 lug 2nd gens and 6 lug 2nd gens in the rear. 6 lugs seem to be ok with the 3rd gen rear with longer shocks. I just want to avoid having the same issue as I did with the shocks. Good news is I was able to sell the shocks so no money lost there. Thanks everyone!
