I haven't looked into it yet but mine also seems to have stopped charging (28k miles). Was debating getting it fixed but some folks have been replacing them with the SR cubby trim which is deeper/holds more stuff. Seems like that would actually be more useful than the slow ass wireless charging...

I've got the same problem... my phone was on 1% so I left it on there to charge and it "connected" and looked like it was charging, but an hour later my phone is dead and hot as heck.

is there a link for the cubby trim??

Mine gets hot as hell with any phone i’ve placed in there. My friend has an older 3rd gen and says his charges slowly but never gets hot
I’m guessing there’s just a lot of defective ones and we just assume that’s how they are?

My 2020 doesn’t charge the phone at all either. Stays at the same % and the phone is hot as hell

Toyota has to fix this problem. If phones are overheating, This is an issue. My Samsung wireless charger doesn’t heat my phone and it’s on there all night and charges it fast. I used my tacoma qi charger and in 10 minutes I actually lost charge and my phone was so hot that I had to turn the ac on and hold my phone on it for a few minutes. I hate having a wireless charger that isn’t usable. Now I guess I’m coming it with a tuffskinz mat

It’s essentially a third-party universal charger. It’s junk. I could care less though. Good place to stash your wallet or whatever else.

Qi is a POS plus the rubber is unglued. I think the dealer is covering this under warranty...they had to order the part.

The Qi charger is straight garbage. Heat is really bad for batteries. Sucks the life right out of them.

Mine works just fine, though not at fast charge speeds :(. The reason some of y'alls phone is overheating is because there is no fan in the charger pad (oversight for sure). Toyota definitely should've used a fast charge + fan. If there were ever a replacement I would definitely buy it. As is, mine works well with my S8, I get about 10% charge over a 20min drive or so.

Mine has never worked correctly. In winter it will turn your phone into a hand warmer.

Just sucks it comes with the truck and they use it as a selling point...“equipped with wireless charging”
I agree that it’s pointless and I never use it. A wire is way more convenient and faster. But it’s just a nice feature just in case you go on a trip and you or passenger can just set the phone down And charge.

The USB ports also charge like crap. Technology in vehicles is so many years behind.

there’s no fan on the Samsung wireless charger and my phone doesn’t heat up with that. And it chargers as fast as the wire.
How is it not a recall? It’s dangerous. Not only that, can damage $1000+ phones when it’s only job is to charge it and it can’t even do that

Anybody come across any mods that replace the factory QI charger with an after market charger off of Amazon or something? Seems like you should be able to tap the power going to the factory charger to use with a wireless charging pad that actually works.

Most wireless chargers have a fan, unless it's a cheap Walmart version. look on the back.

I've owed Samsung phones and wireless chargers for years, never seen a fan on a charger.

Same here. I almost always just plug my phone into the USB port whenever I get in the truck, because I like using all the Carplay stuff, like Waze, and Audible, so it's charging anyways. I just set it on the Qi pad, because it's a convenient place to keep it out of the way. When I installed my Anytime front and rear camera setup, I put that switch in the BSM button slot, (because it was easiest to reach) kicked the stupid Qi button out, and moved the BSM button into it's slot.

    There, I fixed it.
