My condolences. I went thru something similar 3 years ago with my dad, except for the no visiting. Assisted living>dementia ward>hospital>cemetery. It's tuff. Got the estate settled, then booted my POS brother out of my life. He got the property he wanted, then I caught him stealing from me. Twice.

 

If you are on those things, you hit the first one that will let you. You aren’t there because of an abundance of P####

A Walk Down Memory Lane with Gritto.

Mrs Gritto walked in when I was just about to post "Grouse Hunting With Gritto" yesterday.
She read it, laughed and walked out.
Ten minutes later she comes back with some pics.

"Here, show these to your reprobate friends."

I hadn't seen these for a long time.
From small game hunting season, 1995.
I was 40 at the time.

The guy on the right in this picture may or may not, allegedly...have let a Grouse get the drop on him while taking a leak.
Three shots and a miss with his Wang hanging out.



Here's the Grouse that came back from the Dead...
Had to reach around my back into my game pouch to grab him and wring his neck.



Another day of hunting.
The Squirrel and two of the Pheasants were my Buddy's.




The end of another Saturday hunt...this time alone.
Two Pheasants, a Grouse and a Squirrel.
Towards the end of the season. Letting some whiskers grow.




Noticing a pattern yet?
Pheasants are a bunch easier to find and hit than Grouse.
A Grouse is an F-22 fighter plane (and sometimes just about as stealthy), while a Pheasant by comparison is a B-52.

Yet another day of hunting...alone again.
Two Pheasants, a Grouse, and a Woodcock.




I never purposely hunted TimberDoodles (Woodcock).
But when hunting Grouse, your chance of a shot is so fleeting...
...that sometimes it's hard to pull off a flushing bird.
They flush with a weird nasal "peet" sound.
Should be easy to hit, but noooo... they fly in a kinda bobbing corkscrew pattern.

What's worse is being in Hospital and Sis volunteers to care for my Dog but needs my Taco and $10,000 while Brother asks to "Borrow" my Tractor.
