I like to shop ebay from a great seller with great feedback. You can also get the Sqr trade or ebay warranty. Most times you will save HUGE!
    $999
    http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=168550&i=500IVAW505&tp=448
    $60 warranty from Service net
    $999 + $60 = $1059.00

    $770.87
    http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAND-NEW-2008-...286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66:2|65:15|39:1|240:1318
Add a 3 year warranty for $90 from square trade
    $770.87 + 90 = $860.87-1059
    Almost $200 savings!

Ive always been extremely happy with Crutchfield. They have a scratch and dent section that you can stuff for really cheap if you don't mind little cosmetic errors. No matter which way you go I'm sure you'll find a good deal. crutchfield.com

    Remember there's always ebay

Note that some manufacturers will not warranty items that are not sold from authorized dealers - check with the manufacturer before buying.

I would be very hesitant with eBay. Look at WHAT they sold to get that great rating. Selling 1,000 toasters does not mean I should buy an amp from you. having a picture does not mean it works.

    I would recommend
    -crutchfield
-craigslist.org because you can meet the seller, avoid shipping, and make sure things work.
-using Resellerratings.com to verify any other online seller.

I have so far bought all my stuff from local dealers.

All I'm saying is that for 1 good person on ebay, there's 10 snakes. I've had both very good experiences, and some very bad close calls (to the tune of $2000 in one case).

Square Trade requires that you actually GET the item you intended to buy.

There's less risks with the other avenues I listed. Additionally, LISTENING is a big part of BUYING THE RIGHT THING.

I see your point . . . I guess I never worry cause I always use my AMEX with buyer protection. No product I don't pay. Never had any issues. But I don't think I would send any ebay sellers cashier check or check . . .

The $2000 issue was with my buddy. He bought a laptop from a power seller via paypal linked to his VISA. Seller turned out to be a scam artist, and paypal was only going to get back $100. My friend issued the stop payment through the credit card company and lucked out, but paypal gave him some nasty threats.
