So yesterday turned out to be interesting. Finally got the gumption to finally clean the nasty throttle body in between bouts of rain. It was indeed nasty as seen here:

But upon taking off the plastic housing that the air filter goes on I heard a "Snap" when taking it off. I figured it might have just been it breaking free, yea nope. Turns out I forgot about the vacuum line going to the back of it and snapped off the nipple. Super glue didn't work so I grabbed some epoxy. Waited the hour it said to set up, got everything back together and still it broke off. Crap. Was going to tee into some other lines, but decided against it as the line was coming off the fuel rail. Finally went for it and drilled it out and inserted a rubber tapered vacuum fitting in there and was able to get the line on there. Buttoned it back up and everything is well. It did indeed run better though. What should have taken 30 minutes wound up being almost 3. That's enough wrenching for me for a while...

I won't complain about the rain since it seems to have cooled everything off for a bit. Makes for a good day to nap... or do school work. *sigh* 24 days to go!

Sounds about par for the course. This is the first vehicle I've done any work to aside from brakes, rotors, oil. I mess something up every time I work on it. This site, particularly this thread has been a life saver for me. This is something on my list of maintenance, thanks for sharing.

Thanks again to both of you for the help! No more rubbing tires, a sound I'll never miss!

A few small projects and should be good to go off pavement again soon.

Weldy pic to go with your grindy pic

Mine started with a slight roaring (like shitty tires) around 45mph and would go away around 55mph. Then it started doing it at 25-35 and 45-55. Shortly after it got louder and just groaned all the time. Mine was the axle seal that took out the bearing. Axle vent was plugged.

When I'm reversing I get a very loud grinding like groaning sound. It's highly annoying. And sometimes it happen just pulling out of my driveway but the sound goes away when I'm driving. Havent figured this one out yet

I've had rotten luck with regular epoxy on plastic. There is an epoxy made especially for plastics that works a lot better. Not quite "JB Weld better" but pretty good.
