I have been doing research on this ahead of my relocation down there and as @Sandman614 pointed out, there are a ton of parks within a 4-5hr drive. I would add blackmountain in harlan kentucky to that list as well! That place is HUGE!

I used to ride poplar tent almost every day back in 2010-2011. My old roommate and I would ride the long loop which was about 10mi of single track. Sucks the owners shut it down a few years ago :(

You ready to go it's either Windrock or AOP in Oct. :boink:
If you want to travel a little further down to OK you got Disney, Rugged Ridge, one other I can't remember, Green Mountain (just reopened in TN near Windrock), there is a in and out trail in VA (forget the name off the top of my head), One of the hatfield McCoy trails in WV you can take vehicles on, You got a few in GA. Anthracite=AOAA

Also to add to the powerline trail deal those are typically not owned by the power company. The power company leases the easement from the property owner. So if you get caught on them without permission you could end up in double trouble.

Depends on how fast I sell my house here and buy one there. Trucks going into storage up here in Illinois until I get a place with a garage in NC. Let me know though, like I said earlier I'll come ride shotgun with someone and pull winch cable if I'm free that weekend!!

Anyone interested in a Polymer80? I bought it a while back but just lack the motivation to do anything with it. Will let it go for $120.

this one in FDE as shown below.

I have not been to Ft Fisher yet. I go to OBX a couple times a year. I air down to 15 psi, 12 psi if it is really soft. Don’t be scared to balloon the tires, just drive carefully. 4lo is good if driving through soft sand for a while, it keeps the transmission cool. I actually drove around the point in 2wd by accident, I started at 15 psi and got stuck so went down to 12 and got moving again, almost got stuck a second time until I realized I didn’t engage the ADD .

I love Ft. Fisher way better than the N End and not as crowded. I used to live in CB in the late 90s before they charged to drive out there. I used to take my S10 Blazer out there never got stuck but it is all about knowing and learning the deep sand and understanding how to ride the ridges and ruts :mudding:I like the entrance coming in and out when no one is out there and just blasting criss cross through there.:bikewhoops: I took a rental Jeep something or rather out there one time and smashed it back and forth and across, when I left out I heard something dragging and it turned out to be the bumper cover :rofl:good thing I had the insurance on it. I brought it back to the rental place with the bumper cover in the back seat they didn't ask haha

 Nice. I have tried to get stuck at ramp 44, driving into a big soft hole where someone was stuck earlier in the day, but the right air pressure just cruises right along.

I have yet to take my 255s in the sugar sand, curious if they will provide enough float.

They will do fine with the right air pressure, start at 20 and go down more if it seems to struggle.

When you are down your footprint expands length wise way more than width wise. Never really understand why people think skinnys suck in the sand.

Good to know, was kinda worried about my 255 /85 km3s digging a hole with the large lugs. I've also got a set of 265/75 Falken Wildpeaks, would it just be smarter to run those, or air down enough and it doesn't matter?

either is probably fine, momentum is key apparently.

*never driven on sand, so my input is probably worthless

Notice that as you air down the footprint of the tire grows in length not in width. This is why tire width isnt that big of an issue, and to say that a wider tire will outperform a narrower tire is completely false.

Also your 265/75 are only .49 wider. A 3.9% difference. Negligible at best. Youll be fine on the 255's
