Progressive aal retaining clip question

Seems like that's an idea that may work, i just wish they never redesigned these progressive leafs

 

exactly. just attach it to the bottom of the over load clip only.

the u-bolt use as a clip only. do not tighten

 

Right, but if you were to cut the overload thats exactly all it would be, a block lift.

 

If you truely want more lift and load ability, you should look into some more heavy duty leaf packs that will give you both. The 3 leaf aal is good for a lift and ride comfort, but not for super heavy loads.

 

FWIW I just threw back in my overload which I pulled out during 3leaf aal install. Got the needed lift back and the ride comfort is great. Glad I went that route

 

I don't ever really have a heavy load in there, only a cap sometimes. My 884's up front gave me more lift than expected (2.5inches)and this progressive pack only gave me. 75 on drivers side and 1 inch on passenger side, so it looks dead even empty and saggy with the cap. I'd like 1.5 of rake...

 

Would yours touch the clip and the 2 nipples if the leafs were loaded diwn like mine would?

 

There are 2 guide clamps on the overload already. I you attach anything to the bottom, it will not reach the leaf pack because it hangs too low

I cut the clip off on one of the sides and I am not hitting the nipples either. That said, I have not maxed out the payload yet

 

Ok so you initially cut off one of the clips from the original leaf when you installed the aal and then cut one of the clips off the aal when you put in the overload?

This is an old thread but I’m having the same issue as OP. I’m debating cutting 4” off the front of my overload so it stops short of the rivet

 

I have the same set up where my progressive leaf clamp is in between the overload.

Does anyone see any issues with the clamp in between the leaf pack and overload leaf?

Any input would be appreciated.
