Hey been lurking and posting trying to figure out what the hell I'm doing
Still dont know what I am doing so we're gonna keep shaking that bear.

Anyways gonna be a slow build thread.
    Obligatory photo here

    MODS:
    -PAID OFF!
    -BAMF sliders
-BAMF IFS SKID from another member here
-BAMF mid skid after denting the transmission pan
    -BAMF transfer case skid
    -MESO Customs red map lights
    -MESO Cuatoms white dome light
    -MOLLE RACK behind rear seats
    -PRO GRILL
-Dash Milti Mount (DMM) from the taco garage
-Dash Camera because drivers here are terrible (caught 1 other people's accident)
-KC GRAVITY LED FOG G4 AMBER (501) Plug and play highly recommend
-OVTune at 41,450. Updated to current toyota crap with some extra pepper. Holds gears longer and stays in the power band longer. I'd do it again.

    RECOVERY:
-TRED PRO got a good deal on a color
    -RHINO RECOVERY HITCH
    -HI-LIFT JACK 48"
    -SMITTYBUILT TOW STRAP
-A shovel and axe I found

    Places I've played at:
Naches trail-got stuck for 3 1/2 hours in mud did not complete...yet.

Tahuya-only did a portion of it. Met up with TW group it was easy going, good for working out kinks.

Fortune Creek ( gallagher lake)- very fun trail not difficult at all. Minor technical. Another TW group meet

Lonesom lake- 1st attempt made it half way. Turned around due to time, fresh snow on the ground

Attempt 2 is why I have new tires. Made it 3 Miles in after getting stuck multiple times and helping other rigs.

    Chocolocco OHV park in Alabama

    Coppingers Cove in Tennessee

    Stoney Lonesome Northern Alabama

    Future:
-Tires- still running stocks and I gotta say not a bad tire to be honest.
-Removed at 29,560 replaced with 265/75/16 (31.7") C load Goodyear duratracs

Suspension- very capable truck right off the lot, but want vs need I'll end up with something

Front Camera- the last trail ( fortune creek) made me realize this is definitely on the list and probably number 1.

FIXES: CPS issue on 30 Sept 2020, Toyota willing to cover, Dealership is still a sticking point.

Starter may have gone out?-replace myself with OEM (probably doesn't like water)
UPDATE: starter did turn south and quickly. Replaced with OEM (pretty corroded and puked out water on dis assembly)

Switched to AMSOIL OE (been using amsoil since the early 2000's and it does make a difference in climates) at 39.8k along with regular maintenance.

    Had a small hiccup
    Nothing some bondo can fix

Tried to pull the seats out in order to access behind the cab in am effort to pound out the metal. Unfortunately, you cannot access this specific spot from inside. No harm no foul lesson learned. Gotta move onto a little more invasive form.

Not so great with an impact hammer, but learned something new. It is a work in progress though. Have it bondo'd and primed. Still need to finish sanding and repaint.

Install(ing) BAMF sliders. Some small bumps mostly questions that were answered crazy fast by Jerry. Torque reccomendations are a little high. Saw a thread and another person had the same issues ( warping washers) so I backed down from 80ft lbs to 60ft lbs on the 1/2" and probably hover around 25ft lbs on the 3/8. The drivers side 3/8 is a pain to get to for torquing due to the gas tank.

20190602_144758.jpg Got to use the tred pros. Worked great for the first time I got stuck! Though the lanyards did not last. Gonna use some 550 cord and make my own. Both tore after 1 use.

Got the DMM from @FreshMexicanTaco. Very good quality and easy to assemble. Can't believe I waited so long to get it!

Coppingers Cove in Tennessee was great. It also completely killed my starter. Started off as a rough start one morning. Ordered a new starter and in 2 days it was toast. With covid the shipping was thrown off. A thread for 3rd gens was pretty helpful. However I'd highly recommend to save yourself a ton of time and take apart the old one to remove it then take apart the new one for install. Much quicker.

    20201014_164839.jpg

Armature fell out. Kind of freaked out as I needed my vehicle done and put together to work at 4 am. Luckily Brian saved me a ton of time by giving me the best way to put it back together in less than 2 minutes

    20201014_170123.jpg

This is what it should look like before you re install the armature.

    20201014_170126.jpg

Clips that hold in the copper connections. 4 total. Remove the end cap and put these out of the way. Install the armature so copper on copper release the tension and put it back together and you're done. Once the old was out the new went in. Slight twist to seat it and re attach the bolts and install. From re assembly in the engine bay to done under 40 minutes with a start test.

Photo of what I'm certain killed the starter DSC_0179.JPG.jpg

Oh cool you got a build thread, subbed! Quite a few people had issues with starters after that trip, those crossings were pretty deep. I guess I got lucky (or my time for a new starter is coming lol)

I caked the seals with grease and connectors with dielectric grease. It was very corroded and puked some water out when I took it apart. Id still call it a win if that's what I walked away with

Had some fun at Stoney Lonesome with several Tacomaworld guys from Alabama Thread. Much more willing to try things with the addition of the mid and transfer case installed. It's all about the spotter @JBTacoma @Brian422
