I doubt it. When OVTune was first demonstrating numbers for gains to be had with the n/a tunes for our 3rd gens, this was back in like 2018 I think, he'd remarked about how Toyota transmissions have lots of drivetrain loss and that both the AT and MT were no exception. If I remember correctly, he'd effectively told us that our 15% estimations were too low and that it was more like 20% (if I remember correctly). I absolutely remember him talking about how Toyota transmissions have a lot more drivetrain loss than other vehicles though.

You don’t want help turning your future 37s and solid front axle?

That’s what gears are for, just ask all the Samurais running 100HP 1.6L sidekick engines with 35s and 37s

Not to sidetrack this thread but what gearing are they using and does that mean the samurai are running tiny pinon gears? Any issues with them failing?

Samurai's actually came with a 1.3L 80hp carbureted engine and the most common swap was to the 1.6L EFI which gave it about 50% horsepower and was practically bolt in. Another common swap were Toyota pickup axles if they decided they needed something a little stronger. In either case most people run 5.38 gears.

Do gears fail because of small pinion heads? Not really, most fail because of abuse and...wait for it....too much power

    "SOLD OUT"

Sounds to me that this doesn't exist. How can you compare 2 products when one is just a rumor beta for years now?
Tired of hearing about non-existent turbos.
How about noone mentions the word turbo until you can send me a link to buy one? I'm tired of waiting.

They're sold in preorder batches of 25 as of right now, so instead of relying on someone else to send you the link, you'll need to take some personal responsibility and watch the OVT FI thread for whenever the next pre-order window opens, which should be October it sounds like.

Super stoked to see you guys are in NC - I have had a hard time finding a semi local parts dealer and shop I like.

Just a short drive down the road if you need any more tester trucks for anything!

So here are my relevant to nothing anecdotal thoughts on all this.

I may eventually pony up for a blower to slap on my ‘17 3.5L OR. It would only be worth it to me if it improves towing to the point that my Taco is able to comfortably tow roughly 6,000 lbs. I really love my truck and I hate the thought of trading it in on a full size, but I hope to buy a smaller cabin cruiser in a few years. If a $6500 blower gives me the capability to tow that kind of weight I will likely go that route. I’ll be the first to admit that I may have unrealistic expectations though.

In the meantime, I’m happy to sit back and wait for others to install Maggies and the other product that may be out soon.

Additionally, I can’t wait for the Friday dumpster fire threads bashing Toyota for not making their drivetrains capable of supporting a mere 20 psi.

Your truck is already rated to tow 6,000 lbs. With or without a supercharger it will not "comfortably" tow 6,000 lbs. It may get up to speed quicker but that's the only change.

Overgeared and underpowered is the way to go (for rock crawling).
