The 3.5 Altima does 0-60 in 5.8 and runs a 14.3 quarter so that might be where hes coming from.

When you think about it, that’s not bad for a eco-tuned 3.5 6 with a retarded-shifting transmission pushing 5k lbs with the aerodynamics of a brick.

Those numbers aren’t true at all. I have both and I can tell you the Altima is light speed faster than Tacoma. I’m not actually looking for it to get as fast as the Altima as quickly. I was just wondering as it seems I have to have a heavy foot on the interstate to get it going.

Mine drives much better with OVTune. But it did drive alot better with the 04B04 tune than the 04B02 tune it came with. Search up the TSB...

Don’t be a dick because you don’t have one. My question was really because I have seen a lot of people posting about problems with the Tacoma finding gears which mine isn’t if it was normal to have to actually floor it more. I test drove the every truck out there before buying this one. So I wanted to know if this was normal to Tacoma as this one is used.

Thanks. Yeah I wasn’t looking for the V8 power necessarily because well I would have bought a V8. I was wondering if this really was just basically normal for how the Tacoma drives. I can look into get the OVTune and all that if that’s the case. I haven’t decided if that’s a route I really want to go.

Well I didn’t get to open it up. Each day I was able to go test drive it was pouring rain with spot flooding near the dealership. So I didn’t get the chance to open it up.

Such a small dick answer. I’ve driven other small trucks and didn’t seem to notice the same thing. Heck I test drove the Frontier, Ranger, Colorado, etc and it didn’t take as much coaching to go. However, those things suck and ugly AF. A lot of trucks get up and go without having to get the RPMs in the red

Yeah this was more of my questioning because I have been seeing issues with the shifting in the transmission and all of those type of issues is the reasoning for the difference in this truck.

Thanks. I started researching some late last night on the TSB as I read someone had theirs updated and it drove better. However, he said for a little bit then it went back to the way it was. I need to look up some of the TSBs

Thanks, I’ll look into OVTune. I just didn’t recall the 95 Tacoma I would drive (my guy friend) of me having to nearly floor it to go. It also could just be memory issue haha. Or the fact that I am used to driving every model truck but Tacoma. I know I’ve seen a lot of complaints about the shifting problems and that can be part of it and it doesn’t have to be. I had a Jeep back in the day that had trouble shifting gears but that thing flew on the interstate. Just really wanted to know if its more of a normal for Tacoma and if so that’s cool. I didn’t buy it to race anyone. However, I don’t want to get killed trying to get onto a crowded freeway

Just like every other vehicle, if you want to go faster you have to press on the accelerator more.

The tuning paired with the transmission is how Toyota could meet the stupid EPA requirements. It feels sloppy but does perform. Not smooth like you'd want because of that.

I’ll give it a read. I didn’t see that when I was looking last night for posts. But again thousands of posts. My only experience was that 95 Tacoma a guy friend had and I just didn’t have to push it as hard. But of course he did a lot of mods on his which very well could have helped a little I suppose. I mean I don’t mind pushing it when it needs it. Just didn’t know if pushing it was normal for it. I don’t need the truck to race I just need it to get on the freeway without getting killed in rush hour.

The Tacoma is different from other vehicles, just like every vehicle is different from other vehicles. I drove a new Hellcat a month or so ago. It is quite a bit different than the Tacoma. To compare "apples and apples" I also test drove a new Dodge pickup. It is quite a bit different than my Tundra. Basically, every vehicle has its own personality. The Tacoma needs revs to get up and go and that's fine. Revs don't hurt an engine that's designed to rev. Revs hurt engines that are designed for lower revs. The Tacoma is designed to rev high.
