    Story 2:
I got a Jeeper posting on FB about all the trails he has done and posting all his pics on the Event page. I tell him that's a lot of dick swinging (yep, more/less those exact words) and that this event was not about that. It's a beginners run with easy trails and learning how their trucks work.

Then I getting an offer to help with the event by a Girl Jeeper. She says she does beginner runs with the Jeep girls all the time.
    Great we'd appreciate the help.
She says, I can lead a group up Loose Rock (level 5) for the morning pic.
I tell her that she probably wouldn't get any takers. It's a beginners run.
She says, well some ppl said they wanted to do advance trails.
I explain that advanced for a mild build Toyota is a lot different than a Jeep on 40's. But if you want to help lead true beginners, we'd be grateful.
    She says sure.

On to Saturday morning. Who do you think was leading the group of Jeeps up Penthouse (level 4) for the morning pic? Yep!
Probably took 2 hours to recover it and then they all left together. The Jeeps that break together, stay together.

Hard to troll a Toyota group when you a trashing your friends vehicles in the first 5 minutes.

There was some trash talking going around that I had seen and I just sort of held my tongue. Regardless of experience level I also enjoy playing with the newbies and running to the rear of the group in case anyone needed a spot or anything. We all start somewhere and we aren't any better than anyone else because of where we end up. Sometimes I prefer an easy day and getting to see people really in awe of what their stock vehicles can do to the days where I'm held in my seat by my puckered butt all day.

I like doing that, too. I found myself doing it too much and becoming bored. We need more people willing to lead newbie groups and also know HF inside and out. Sadly, that's only a few of us.

    I know.

Gaia really helped with learning the trails there. The only way to learn is to lead.

I agree, wasn't bashing anyone because of vehicle make just really saying stubborn people sometimes mess stuff up because they have to be "cool".

I need to lead more but I'm not confident at HF as a leader. I can do it at Barnwell sometimes, especially if I've run that trail earlier in the day with my group, but overall it's something I need to improve on.

My only experience at Barnwell is Jambo. :anonymous:

The more you lead trail runs, the better you get at it. I like to set a time and location goal and shoot for that. I also plan to deviate from that every time, so that helps when good suggestions or problems arise that affect the plan.
