I received a coupon from my local Toyota Dealer for 4 years of 45,000 miles of ToyotaCare Plus maintenance for $349.00. The coupon expires on 08-31-2020. It did not seem like that good of a deal, but I wanted to see exactly what it covered so I drove to the dealer today.

When I got there, the service person said Toyota canceled that deal and would not honor the coupon and the new cost is $399.00. If you do get this coupon, your dealer may or may not honor this coupon as I found out. I never did find out exactly what this maintenance covered.

I wouldn’t trust then to do maintenance on my truck anyway. Threw it in the trash.

Thats a pretty cheap contract....they wanted 3 times that amount here for 5 years or 50k miles, must not cover too much.

If you're willing, spend that money for the motivex tools and do the oil changes yourself. All that $350 will get you is two oil changes. The dealer on the other hand gets more chances to upsale you things you don't need, while at the same time stripping your splash guard bolts and scratching up your paint and wheels.

I plan on doing my own oil changes, but I got spoiled doing oil changes on my 2nd generation tacoma with a fumoto valve and top side oil filter. I just got this 2020 Tacoma and I need to get comfortable doing the oil changes.

Regular Toyotacare that comes with the Truck covers the first 2 oil changes, so that coupon above only covers 2 more changes. Seems like a colossal ripoff for a couple oil changes, cant imagine they sell too many in your area if they charge even more.

I had to re-read your post just to make sure I had it correct, so they are asking more than $1000 in your area for a few oil changes and tire rotations, they must be pouring gold into the crankcase?

As much as I love toyota the japanese built them(ik so,e are made in Usa, but still Jap reliability) and when I went to my local dealer all it is is a bunch of 20something year olds working on the vehicles

They overtorque the drainplug and the filter, strip the skidplate bolts, and scratch up the wheels.

Yup, if you want it done right just diy, simple youtube video will suffice, and tbh all they do is the simple stuff like changing spark plugs, rotating tires, air filter, greasing up the frame, oil changes, all things one can do, if you really dont want to do it then take it to a mom and pop mechanic that you can talk to “the man” doing the work, if they mess up the truck at the stealership youll never find the end of it, ive heard so many horror stories in person and reddit about stealerships and iffy lubes

Exactly, if you cant do the maintenance yourself then a small independent mechanic would be the next best thing and would cost a helluva lot less than the crazy prices listed above.

Total waste of money. At 45k miles, your truck needs virtually no maintenance outside of 4 total oil changes, the tire rotations every 5k, and for Toyota to "inspect" your floor mats. An absolute joke. Personally, I would laugh as I tossed that in the trash. That money would cover 2 new tires that would go on the truck around that mileage.

When I had my gen 2 truck and they wanted to change the cabin filter they actually charge $25 bucks labor. That's a joke. I buy those online and takes a hole minute to change and I was looking at my new truck and that's easier than the 2. You dont even need to move the glovebox to access it

When i took our prius back to the dealer after its 2 year toyota care program ended they gave me an estimate of $260 dollars to do an oil change, plus inspect whatever else. Found an independent garage that was certified for all toyota vehicles including just being certified for the prius. They did everything needed for 1/2 that. Been going back to them for several years now.

My Toyota care just ended and I got both an email and coupons from Toyota for discounted service and I know I won’t go back. I found a new place.

Where exactly do you grease up the frame on a 2020?

That means greasing up the underside in car terms, like the joints, driveshaft, amd any fittings, anybody who works or knows about working on trucks knows this, idk about the 2020 but mine does

It's come up before, 2020's don't have any zerks. You may look to confirm, rarely does it happen but vehicles may end with the prior years, or next years, parts. Not zerks that I've heard, but other things have.

There's nothin' to it brother. My next oil change will be the 13th with the canister type. I haven't even bothered to drain the canister on the last 11.
@ 6' 2" 210lbs I don't even go for the floor jack. Just slide under..
If everything is on hand, it's a ten minute job. Literally.
