In bum fuck middle of nowhere PA my first job as a plumber HVAC tech we would burn all the cardboard packing and pallets for our parts and units and stuff.

Big burn like behind the shop ... the owner had a race car hobby and was a cheap ass so occasionally would stick a couple slicks under all the wood and paper to get rid of them :anonymous:

Just keep one on your patio in the back yard. A nice flat concrete surface. LOL

I've been running a Walker OEM replacement cat for going on 5 years. I had a Magnaflow that lasted 18 months. No complaints so far.

Thank you! That's the kind of real world experience I needed to hear :)

At your earliest convenience would you be willing to snag a photo of what the CAT looks like now? I know it says it's stainless but ive seen some aluminized steel sold as stainless before and it looks like garbage in only a year or two

I have front/rear Magnaflows on my truck, CA compliant...supposedly stainless steel but they're so covered in baked on dirt that it's hard to tell

I wish I was that fancy. I do plan on moving the fence back to increase my parking area on the side of the house

I was just checking.. my initial remarks were involving the CAT so thank you for answering that.

How long have your magnaflows on there? And I take it you did front and back at the same time?

yeah I had a local exhaust shop order and install them for me, about 3 years ago now. They've held up great so far, I only needed the front to get rid of the P0420 code but the shop told me that since the front was bad, it was likely my rear cat wasn't far behind so I just got both done. It was $600 out the door back then.

Looking at their website now though it looks like prices have gone way up, now just one CA compliant cat from them is almost $500. Guess the material went up in cost

That's what I'm running into, I'm so thankful I don't need a CA compliant CAT cause they're twice the price of the 47 state approved model. Double le thank goodness I'm only a 4banger and have only 1 CAT

I think all Tacomas 4cyl and 6cyl have 2 cats after 1999 or 2000...around then was when auto makers started making all vehicles 50 state compliant

Well shit... that explains why (from rockauto) the 98 category shows a seperate part numbers for the collector pipe and CAT and the 02 shows the collecter and CAT as one piece. more research is needed on my part then.

I've got a 98 and only have 1 CAT.. but I bought the mini header that came stock on the 01and up 3RZs (cause it's an improvement over the shitty cast iron manifold) and it bolted right up to the rest of my stock exhaust system

I wonder if I can get away with just buying header back from an 02 and swapping everything over?

I wouldn't know, maybe @Speedytech7 or @BartMaster1234 would know since they have/had the 3rz as well

Well shit the freekin bed :(

Going through all the options shows I would need to buy a front and a rear CAT to make the rest of the 02 exhaust system work.

Or just buy what my 98 has with only the front CAT and a longer intermediate pipe
