Is it just my area or is there a shortage of Tacomas?

Wow. Here's the carvana offer on my 2013 with 35,001 miles. I bought it new for $29,999 7 1/2 years ago. Sticker price was $33,600.

Jeez. This seriously makes me consider throwing the steelies back on and making 5 grand and just driving my first gen. It's rare to be able to make money on a used vehicle

Yeah I’m in Hawaii and there was only 4 new off road 4x4 Tacoma’s left. Now i doubt there’s any. The salesman told me Toyota is building the 2021 in August but won’t come in till 3 months or so. But on the bright side got my 2020 4x4 off-road technology package $39k out the door:thumbsup:

Not a single Tacoma on the lot in Woodbridge, VA. Meanwhile, the Jeep dealership next door was flooded with Wranglers and Rubicons. Lol

Dealers here in the tri-state area of southern new england only have 3 or 4 new tacomas on their lot.

Was getting my service done at the dealer today they had 4 new Tacoma’s and 3 used ones. This is on a lot that usually has about 75 new Tacoma’s. There lot was about 3/4’s empty they didn’t have much of any Toyota vehicles crazy low stock.

Guess I made a good deal back in March sr convenience package 4x4 4cyl AC 27.5k OTD and on the road. I was really squeezing pennies while negotiating trying to get OTD for 25k. I spent $2500 more than I wanted to (that was my mod budget), but I was getting pricing up to 32k otd back then. My son is getting pricing starting at 33k for the same truck 5 months later... supply and demand I guess. I feel bad for him -- he asks for advice and all I can tell him is to call the place I got mine from. He did and they're 5 grand more.

So now it's a waiting game.

I wish I could have gotten a truck like that but with prices going crazy I went with a nice used 2nd Gen that was a bit more in my budget.

All new Tacomas are now made in Mexico....so the quality may not be the same as the TACO’s made in Texas. This also could be adding to the shortage of available vehicles.

If your in the market and dont need anything now, I'd say wait til November/December and start negotiating then -- price was my main concern (also having 4x4 and jump seats). I didn't get to "pick" a color but I also didn't care as finding exactly what I wanted for the price I wanted to pay was hard enough. As it turns out I really wanted mgm/silver but I wound up stuck with black (black and red were my least favorite colors). If your not hung up on options and or color you could make a better deal (or at least start negotiating) once inventory catches up (if it ever does). You may strike your best deal next summer if you can wait that long

Wife and I just put a deposit on a new 2020 here in North Carolina. Has to come from Georgia. We're getting a base model SR5, 4 door, 6 cylinder, alloy wheels in the Cement paint. Nothing fancy. They only accepted MSRP pricing so not much negotiating other than some free running boards and the lowest (1.9) available finance rate. Our credit is damn near perfect and we're paying half up front in cash so this dealer wasn't coming down on the price. Only one available in the Southeast supposedly. There's lots around here but limited colors. Salesman said stocks were low because the factory was closed for a while during Covid and replenished stock is slowly starting to appear. I guess I can believe it

I found mine, a 2020 Quicksand TRD Off Road with the premium off road package, tech package and floor mats and bed mat for $39.8K. the guy who had the deposit, backed out or couldn't get it, so I was next in line. picked it up today

Carmax has a lot of TRD Offroads if you're looking for used. They will even ship them for a varying fee. (with 3 week or so wait)

I did a quick review of my local dealer's stock here in Western PA. 5 SR5, 2 Sports, 1 OR. Last October when I got my OR they have at least 30 Tacos on the lot.

I am in the same boat and searching like crazy. Heres the thing- i sold my used 2010 DCSB SPORT 4X4 155kmiles in June (to a Fellow Tacomaworldian) for basically my asking price. Now I'm on the hunt for a USED 3rd gen/crew cab/4x4 in any package, and they are going for 31k+. Nothing under. However, i see alot of 2WD that have been sitting in dealerships for weeks.

If you have a 4X4, you have money sitting there, sell or keep, you will get what you want!
