FYI

GE branded appliances are built by Haier. The latter bought the former some years ago and license the Monogram. GE branded appliances are still built in Kentucky though. It's how Haier was able to seal the deal; after the factory mysteriously burned down, Electrolux balked at agreeing to rebuild the factory in lieu of moving manufacturing overseas, and Haier agreed to rebuild and maintain operations in Kentucky.

Something like this with mechanical controls. The electronic controls are nice, but they (at least used to) fail, and replacement parts are non existent. If you don't have constant high humidity 5k btu would probably be enough for you.

 

But do you make it clap?

 

I've had a Haier microwave for ~10 years, works just fine.
