    Howdy,

I've skowered for a while now to find some hesitation issues and natural lagginess of this motor etc, but none that really replicate what I've got going on.

Its a 2019 trd OR 6mt w/ technology package 24,000mi. I've shrugged off some really odd electrical bugs while offroading, switching 4 lo and 4 hi....intermittenly dragging a locked wheel around until turning off and back on with no luck at the stealership.

Well this dang near killed me.
First i'm in Phoenix where it's rediculously hot. So hot the TSS sensor has stopped working until cooling off.
Twice now, I have been at a stop going to accelerate in first. Just the usual partial throttle cruise into traffic. It revs for a second, just enough for the clutch to engage and move forward into traffic, and then zero throttle response.
The engine seemingly dies, but no it's idling. Clutch in and trying to get the damn throttle body to open, but nothing. This goes on for long enough for multiple cars to have to avoid hitting me. Then I turn it off and back on, the throttle is super laggy and then finally I'm able to rev the engine and get myself out of danger.

This has happened twice now at very non ideal situations.

Only having this happen twice now a few days apart without a code, I fear the stealership won't be able to replicate nor pull any data showing what's going on.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

Could be crankcase position sensor? I think its only on the earlier 3rd gen models though.

They do not have the parts yet. I spoke to them about it couple weeks ago.

I received a pre-recall letter about 4 months back, but not an actual recall yet.

Of course no loaner truck or car in that time waiting I was told at the dealer the 2019 Tacoma’s they have for sale that came in as trade they can’t even sell them till the fuel pumps are replaced So but that was back in February when I got my 2020 Tacoma so it should have been fixed by now ?

Fuel pump may very well be the culprit. Off to the stealer we go :). Thanks for the heads up on the recall.

I believe 2020s have no fuel pump recall. If im not mistaken its only 18s and 19s tacomas.

Only the 2019 from what the dealer has told me it was a part supplier for the fuel pump that Toyota used on 2019 models & changed it for the 2020 models

Could be by production dates a lot of times is why they always ask for vin# tells them when it was built & what parts were used at the time FYi when Vehicles are being built there are barcodes vehicles are being built there are barcodes that they scan so they know FYi

    A little update:
the dealership was able to see logs of fuel pump failure.
It really perplexes me that these super lean conditions wouldn't throw a code, but it does make sense the ecu disables the drive by wire signal when it is this lean since the car did remain idling with no throttle input.
The service manager cleared it with Toyota to throw a new pump in there, although it's not the updated version for the recall.
Once the new ones are in, I'll be getting the new version.
Fingers crossed this one doesn't crap at a wrong time putting me in danger once again!
