Currently have a 2018 OR DCSB with 20k miles. Dealer offering to buy it from me for 32.5k. This is basically what I paid for it new back a couple years ago (sticker was 38.3k, sold at 32.9k).

I obviously want a new tacoma. Problem is, nobody is discounting them right now. I can get a 2020 SR V6 4x4 Access Cab from the dealer for that 32.5k.

So basically I am trading a 2018 OR for a 2020 SR. Seems like a step down obviously, but I really wish I got the Access cab.

It depends on how hard you wheel off-road. Does your style of off-roading require you to use your OR locker? If not, then standard 4x4 is likely fine.

If you're not going to be stuck in deep snow or mud, and have yet to use the locker on the OR, go for it. Just don't kick yourself in the head in a few months if you need the locker and wish you still had it

The reason I bought the OR was because I wanted the tech package. That was really it. I will miss the blind spot monitor, but at the same time, I figure I can put on big ass mirrors and I should be okay.

To the ones that said yes - why?

I kind of feel like I am trading down...but the long bed would be much more useful.

Not only no, but hell no. Not if you're trading the OR for an SR.

Downgrade in trim levels? No. I don’t get the obsession with the Access cab. Damn thing is tiny. Has literally ZERO room in it. The DC itself is small.

I think you’d be happier with the double cab over the access cab. You think it’s hard taking a dump in the double cab, how are you going to do it in the access cab?

OR to a SR is a downgrade. Sure it's 2 years newer but still a downgrade. Maybe sell it for that and wait for an access cab to pop up.

As someone who came from an extended cab (access cab) I can agree here. All it did was store my crap and I couldn't fit anyone back there very well at all. I do miss my 6' bed a little bit though. I suspect that's the reasoning here.

Lots of times I wish I had the access cab. Or a long bed.

I guess people like the physical look of the truck better. I just think it’s too damn small. I look in the rear seat of my DC and there isn’t much room even in that.

What we’re not mentioning here, is since it’s an /2020/ SR, he is actually gaining some features. Or do you have to get SR5 for the power seat & apple carplay?
