Horse Pasture Road Upcoming Runs

Definitely less traffic during the week.
We have 2 large jeep groups in the area that frequent HP often on the weekends.

I'm about 30 mins south and used to go a couple times a year. Havnt been up there in probably 3 years.

 

I'm looking forward to the opening of the road sept 15. I was hoping to go all the way through last weekend but didn't know they closed it.

 

Yea. A few of our local spots are fully open during hunting season only.
Musterground rd which is directly across the lake if you are standing at jumping off rock. And I think some trails at the Gorges, which is also across the lake, to the right of musterground.

 

are they on alltrails or OnX? And are there camping spots/is camping allowed?

 

Yes. Camping is allowed.
No fires with 50ft of the water I believe.

There are a few sites in all places, just not tons.

 

I'll definitely check that out next time I go out there. Been waiting to find a decent spot to set up. Found the one spot on horse pasture that was kind of raised up with a fire pit in the middle, looks like it's probably used quite frequently. It's on the left a couple miles up if you're going in from Rocky Bottom

 

I believe the camping areas are shown on the large wooden info centers a little ways in, up towards the hiking trails if you come in from Rocky bottom.

If you come in on the other end off hwy 11, towards dugs mountain/granny gear hill, past the fire station, the Info board is right when you turn in the entrance.

 

Looking at musterground road on Gaia, are any parts of it closed? I'm probably headed up there this weekend if it's not completely shitty weather. What's the best way to enter? Coming from i26 toward greenville area

 

I believe all of musterground is closed until sept 15. Horsepasture is only open up to jumping off rock (with no real side roads) until sept 15 as well

What about Gorges? Open before September? Trying to find something to do this weekend

 

Gorges is open all year, but last I heard the gate at the game lands entrance was closed.

 

There's a couple spots.
Really nice one by the river.
Gates at Turkey pen gap will probably be closed.

 

Found a decent spot last night down the other end of horse pasture. Nice clear crisp night. Had a few people come up to the area I was at but backed out after they saw my truck

 

Is that the small spur where you have to drive up a small incline and over some small tree root like steps?

 

I'm at the end of horse pasture where it becomes bootleg road right now. I'm most likely gonna camp out here somewhere . It's a gorgeous place.

 

Be sure to keep any fires 50ft from the waters edge.
Thought about driving up but the taco has been running rough and the doors are off the jeep. Be a nitemare to get all that dust out.

 

yessir, just found it last night since I've never been down the end they gate off from may to september. I heard one guy try to get up it last night but kept spinning out, the other one made it up but backed out. Looked like an xterra

 

Love that spot.
If you can't get thru HP in a civic or pre runner...you ain't hit the skinny pedal.
