My 2019 TRD Off-road got wrecked by hail, right after I had just replaced the windshield. Getting it replaced ran about $750 between the glass and re-calibrating the adaptive cruise control/lane assist radar. I got it replaced through a Toyota certified body repair shop, and I was wondering if anyone had gotten it replaced by Safelite before. If you got it replaced by a 3rd party, did you get your radar re-calibrated? Did you have warnings trip? What did it cost you?

Got mine replaced because a flying object on the freeway cracked it in half. Paid $275 and no calibration because the radar camera was never unplugged.

Gawt damn! No Saftey sense for me but Safelite was ~500 out of pocket. Rock chip turned into a crack all the way across the windshield

DONT use safelight. But if you do use a 3rd party as long as you use oem glass you won’t need to recalibrate it. On my 3rd windshield

Still on my original, but I had 3 in my 2nd gen. Used Safelite every time with no issues.

This tech is quickly becoming the norm, I'll expect a few month lag, then the calibration tools and process quickly catching up, getting rid of the magic and driving down prices.

Did safelite last month, cost me 400 out of pocket. Used a safelite branded windshield and it still had the little gopro thing on it!

I am convinced Safelite sells sugar glass. I went through 3 of their windshields in a year before I realized they sell shit glass. Never again.

Not only that but they are an incompetent company.

I had a rear window replaced in my Tacoma. They dented and gouged the paint of the cab during install. In addition to breaking the all the plastic trim pieces in the rear of the cab.

truck spent about 10 days in the shop. They had to remove the bed, front and rear window, fix the dent, repaint the rear of the cab, roof and a door. Then replaced all the plastics inside. Plus new front windshield and rear window assembly since they are not reusable.

truck was less than 6 months old and under 20,000 miles at the time..

The amount of time I've lost on my life having to deal with them is incredible.

I'm sorry your experience was that bad. Something so simple turns into a disaster.

I got 2 windshields last month by safelight, first one was pilkington and I got a rock chip a week later that cracked all the way down due to it being 118 degrees outside. Then the second one was an OEM Toyota pilkington replacement(didn’t request oem but I’m assuming that’s what they could get in time).

I have a 17 with no radar so I didn’t need a calibration. No cost because I have glass coverage and had no issues.

I have also had my 4runners glass replaced 3 times in the few years with safelight, again no issues at all.

Had safelite replace the rear windshield in my wife's 2007 Impreza sedan and 3 days later it blew out while sitting in the driveway. Clear, sunny weather and the the car hadn't been driven yet that day. Glass everywhere. They had done the job at their shop so there was no reason for it to have been anything but perfect. Flaw in the glass... maybe... but I'll not have them do it again. Plus I can do glass now, so I'll do it myself anyway.

    Story time...

I actually like safelite or glass America. Everyone else has wavy glass. I work by 5 rock quarries and get a new windshield about 3x a year. Have not got new glass since safelite and techno glass merged but techniglass was horribly wavy.
