Skid plates removed. Needed to do that in order to properly fix the stripped out threads for rear bolts on IFS skid. Ordered Rivnut kit from Fastenal that Goes up to 3/8 x 16. Should arrive tomorrow, or the Thursday. Now to see if I can find the bad wire in wheel speed sensor. Then get exhaust reroute for new skids. As I got older I had planned to do less and less wrenching. Since I got this truck I’ve done more wrenching than all other vehicles combined, in my lifetime!
Having just turned 64 I hope to make that plan come true again. Just gonna have to hit the lottery so I can pay others to wrench.F933D398-78B7-4F2E-A4F6-562BE6266617.jpg

Ya thunder and lightening came through butte county yesterday morning and started 26 fires here. The largest of the fires in butte is the #pottersfire. Came pretty close yesterday evening and sent me home from work early after my neighborhood was put on evacuation warning. But winds changed the direction of the fire last night and it is now threatening another neighborhood. Scary stuff for sure. 20200817_114735.jpg

I made the decision to do as little as possible that involves being under the truck for any extended period of time.

I was going to do my own regear with ECGS built 3rds. I changed that to having a shop do it.

But, valve cover gasket replacement. I can do that b

Whelp, as long as I’m down here might as well lube the TC UCA bushings. And clean the ball.

    It’s always something.

edit: Found the speed sensor issue.

If you look closely, by the head of zip tie, chaffing on the bolt. Fuq. So little slack available with those wires. Plus it looks like it snugged up over time. Don't believe I would have had it that taut. Shit. Now, where to buy the sensor. $324 at Toyota!!! OK, so about 85 bucks for just the harness. Sensor is probably still good.

No need to replace the sensor. Just buy the harness. Should be easy fix.

Yep. Ordered one. Not readily stocked. Will pick up tomorrow. This is the third time I’ve had to replace a harness. They are too short, in my opinion.

    Quick question.
Should the lower shock bolts for the front shocks be torqued with the wheels on the ground or in the air?

There's another one down by my parents in Carmel, also caused by lightning. Impressive equipment and tactics they're using to control these things. Hope you're safe man!
