2015 Taco and switchback led

I'm wondering if anyone has found any LED Switchback with built-in resistors that will fit in the 2015 flasher socket 4157 bulb and that actually work thanks in advance everybody

 

Lol i just had this issue. fellow forum member @Island Cruiser turned me onto the VLEDS V6 Triton LED's and reviews on them all seem to say they work.

I had already purchased these ones linked below, so I'm gonna test those out first and see if they work. Also, something to note that took me a while to realize...I have some cheapo sylvania LED bulbs that work, but hyperflash. At first I thought they didn't work for turns/emergency flashers, but i just needed to flip the bulb around in the socket. They hyperflash, but turn signals and flashers work fine...just twice as fast. I'll report back on the linked ones later if they work without hyperflashing.

Thanks for the shoutout, brother! I always had some type of issue with cheaper ones in the past and finally decided to pull the trigger on quality ones(thanks to @Braunschwaga lmfao) soon as I saw a sale. But do let me know how those Sylvania ones turn out though cuz I’d be curious to hear your feedback

sorry if there was confusion, the sylvania ones i have in already do work for all functions, they just hyperflash which is a bit annoying but not huge. I'm keeping them as a backup, bought them on Amazon for like $14

I'll def let you know how the GTR Armor Series Ones I ordered work out when i get em in later today. A bit cheaper than the VLEDS, so we'll see. if not i'll definitely be taking your suggestion as a proven functioning alternative

 

I bought some LEDs online that work they just hyper Flash just return them and bought some canbus LEDs that supposedly work I'll post in here a link if they work
Wait the bulbs I pulled out of my taco for my front blinkers are 4157 the ones you linked are 3157 can we use either and what's the difference? @TacoTuesday

 

Just a heads up. I bought some canbus integrated LED's off Amazon as well, and those not only hyperflashed, but also didn't work for turn signals either. just the on/off functionality.

I don't think our trucks actually are as canbus system, my research showed we have a CK style plug. But do keep us posted, and i'll do the same on the ones I just received.

These are the ones I got and they say the compatible with CK or regular bulbs so I guess we'll see LOL

 

I tend to overshare information which leads to these confusions, so the fault is mine as much as it is yours lol

from everything I've seen, 3157 bulbs can be used interchangeably with 4157.

 

Little update. I found out that the cheapo sylvanias I had actually weren't fully functioning...either the flashing turn signals would work, or it would just stay on solid at all times depending how the bulb was flipped. So those are out lol.

The headlight revolution GTR LED's i bought work to stay on solid AND function as turn signals, but they still hyperblink, and don't turn on for the DRL setting, only once they are turned to the 2nd or 3rd click. However, they do still hyperflash.

I think i'm just going to stick with those ones for now since the functions all work except DTRL at the first click, and hyperflash isn't such a huge deal to me really.

 

Sorry to dredge up this old thread but wanted the community to know about a bulb that didn’t work for my truck. 2015 with 3 wire harness and DRL on the light switch. Bought the ibrightstar from Amazon. They were amber only. I did try to pull and reverse to make sure they were in both ways but they are going back today.
I’ve ordered a different set and will post the results once I get them.

 

Ok. Follow up on the next try. No good. The brishine shown here do the same as the others. They light amber when the switch is in the DRL position and stay amber when blinking. When I turn on the headlights these stay on but go white. Not what I want at all. I’ll try again.

 

Topic beat to death over the years.........A couple of resistors installed behind the rear tail lights solves the hyper flash problem. I installed LED's, front and rear, 7 years ago - switchbacks from Amazon (7 year old technology) and they still work today as they did then.

Looking like I’m probably going to be forgetting about the switchbacks. Certainly not dropping $150 or more on the vled kit. I can just run my low beams and replace the bulbs for years for that money. Lol

 

What......... 10 bucks for a resistor kit and 25 bucks for a pair of 3157 "CK" switchbacks, another 15 bucks if you want to do the rear signals (all Amazon) I don't understand why this is so complicated.......

 

I'm happy for you that you had luck with that configuration. So far I've looked at hundreds of LED switchback bulbs on Amazon. Those that say they work for CK sockets are quite expensive. Many of those also have reviews that say they don't work for Toyotas or some of the other CK socketed vehicles.

An alternative to cheap is the VLED kit linked to above in this thread. Those range from $100-220. Not worth the money to me.

If anyone with a late second gen with DRL position on the light switch, and 3 wires in the harness (green, white/black, yellow) has done the mod and has found a set that works please let us know.

When I say "works" I mean:
- turns on white when the switch is in the DRL position
- turns to amber when in the headlight on position
- blinks amber-off-amber when blinker is turned on when in either DRL or headlight position

If I could find bulbs that behave this way for a reasonable ($30 or less) price, I would gladly do the resistor mod to prevent hyperblink. Otherwise, not worth my time. I'll just keep my headlights in the on position all the time and replace the bulbs regularly when they burn out. Again, I can replace the bulbs probably 3-4 times for $100 (the price of the cheapest VLED kit).

 

My 2nd Gen, 2015 Sport has the EXACT 3 wire DRL..... it "works", and has for the past 7 years......
Since you've decided not to use resistors or pay for VLED's, don't worry about it. I've never replaced a incandescent bulb in my 15 year old Tundra.

 

That’s how I look at it. As much as I want to replace mine with LED bulbs, I’d rather spend the money elsewhere on the truck. For what I’ll pay for a VLED unit, would rather get my C4 bumper powder coated lol
