What are some good aggressive tires for a daily driver?

I like the different element pics. Tested and proven lol

 

I’ve got 265/70/17 Falken AT3Ws on 17” SCS SR8s. They are quiet when dodging potholes and wear well.

They also handle great In both North Dakota seasons. Winter and Drought.

 

I just got these. So far so good, but the Falken’s I’ve had in the past rode better and cost less. Sort of wish I’d gone with them again.

 

I had the General Grabber AT2s, they've been replaced with the ATX. I'd go that route.

I got X3s now, not really a good DD tire. Good in mud though.

 

Did you get them at discount tire ? Return them for Falken

 

Plus I am 90% street. The 285s come in a C range, which make them super comfy. I go off road like maybe 4-5 times in the summer, and a couple times in the fall and winter. They do very well in the rain and are very quiet. I would buy these again when I go up to 35s soon, but they are quite heavy for 35s, so I will be going to Goodyear MTRs for 35s. But for 33s I highly recommend them if you want something more aggressive than KO2s or other ATs, but dont want a full MT tire with the hum and bad traction in the rain/snow.

 

I really wanted nittos ridge grapplers, but from my understanding they only come in E load in 265/70/17 and they cost like 550.a tire here...

 

Are you going with a cab mount relocate ? Can't imagine a chop is gonna cut it for 35's (pun intended)

 

No, my sliders are welded on and would get in the way. Its hard to see, but we cut this pretty far back as possible using some pre-made fill plates I had.



I have plenty of room now with zero rubbing stuffed. Also, my LCAs aren't maxed forward so I could get more clearance too if the 35s rub on it. I could always cut back more, but dont want to relocate the mount if I have to.

 

I did.... but I imagine I’ve had them too long to switch them through I don’t know their policy.

 

Sorry I've been a ghost guys, at work and didn't expect to get as much feedback as I did. Thank you for everyone's input. We seem to be hovering around 3-4 different tires at this point and will need to talk to "my guy" to see what kind of prices and availability he has.

 

How's the wet/rain traction, especially on the freeway around here?

I think i saw you last week heading up the "snake hill" (192nd)...that road gets slick when it rains!

I like those tires aggressive but Still not over the top .

 

So who else has two sets of wheels & tires? One for everyday, the other for offroading.

 

I hear great things about the Michelins. My wife has always had them on her vehicles. I drive 40-50k miles per year, but I drive a lot in muddy horse pastures, around our river and such. I’m torn...my son has DuraTracs (2002 Tacoma Off Road) and they are great. I’ll need tires again before the end of the year. I’ll do one of these 2 tires probably.

 

I must agree w/a few posts that recommend Michelin's. If quality and longevity are a priority, they usually tick those two boxes.

I have Duratracs on mine. Only have a little less than 5k miles on them, but aside from a little road noise - they're awesome. Also look gnarly and ride good. They've been excellent in rain/downpours. I've read that many get 50k-60k miles out of them. Of course, YMMV.

 

oh man you should’ve honked ! Tbh I haven’t really got to test them in wet weather... it hasn’t really rained much since I got them mounted plus I like never drive anymore with wfh lol. I’m also curious to see how they do this fall/winter but I’m hoping tbh they do decent or else I might need to change them (which my wife won’t be happy about lol)

 

I ordered a set of falken wildpeaks based on reviews on here. Seem to be decent at both on (road noise) and off-road.

 

Love my Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They ride great, their quiet, and handle very well. They come in load range C, D, and E. 6 ply, 8 ply, and 10 ply. I have the C range in 265/70/17R. If the OP really wants a more aggressive looking tire they are probably going to have to sacrifice something, gas mileage, ride, noise, etc.
