It was paid for. I do wish I still had that truck stinking a/c and all. I was planning on having it Line-X'ed until I test drove the Honda CR-V. Wish I had that damn thing back too. I would of been within months of having it paid off. A man lives and learns.

Well... looks like I’ll be joining the Carvana club. It’ll be put back to stock, and I’m gonna take it to Carmax and check with KBB before signing with Carvana.

Considering I paid $36.0k for my loaded 18 OR, it’s cost me $74/mo excl taxes to drive it for 34k mi. Tough to beat that!

If the truck had more power or just drove better, I wouldn’t consider selling but this is better than putting $7-10k into it to get the drivability I’m looking for. I’m gonna get a cheap vehicle and wait for the next gen Tundras to come out. If I don’t like the new Tundras, I’ll buy a Raptor.

To be fair if my Tacoma was my only car I would've never sold it. I had no plans to sell it until I saw the Carvana thread here and gave it a shot. I don't even need the cash but I have no use for it now so why store it for at least a year when I can get out of it now for a once in a lifetime cash offer with no hassle? It was hard to let go of a US built Tacoma but it took up a lot of space and made me sad when I looked at it just sitting there.

So who here looking for a Tacoma is going to pay what CARVANA is going to be asking for a used truck?

well shit guys, i had no intention of selling this truck, until i saw this thread. My wife wants to buy a camper, which originally was just going to be used in state, but now we are talking trips to montana and the badlands and I am not excited about towing a 3500 pound sail behind my Tacoma on those interstates. Never really wanted to upgrade to a full size truck due to daily gas mileage and just not wanting something that big in Minneapolis downtown traffic, but now we both work from home, just sold the 3rd car that was unnecessary since we barely drive any of our vehicles these days,

Put my truck into carvana just for fun, 2017 SR5 DCLB with about 34000 on it. Paid 33,000 (before tax) on it new in 2017, they are offering me 30,750 for it. That is insane. Currently looking to see what kind of stock local Toyota dealers have in Tundras.

There is your problem, you will overpay for the Tundra so it will be a wash.

Depends on your definition of overpay. If you mean that tundras are basically dinosaurs and 40,000 for 20 year old tech is overpaying, then sure. But I’m finding what I want for 5,000 under MSRP, which I consider reasonable.

Enjoy it while it lasts, but the inflated market conditions won't last forever. I have a feeling that Carvana and others are betting that market conditions will be constrained and that a number of people are dumb enough to pay damn near list price for a used Tacoma. In all honestly I couldn't see myself buying this truck USED for what I paid for it NEW.

If you're selling by all means sell, because it won't stay this good forever. If anyone is interested i'll trade my 2600 mile 2018 TRD OR DCSB 4WD stripper for a STOCK as a rock 2012-2015 Tacoma low mile single cab 4WD and cash, some chick shit in the passenger seat last year, but it was scotch guarded.

That's what I'd like to know.

You would think they have to sell them for more than what they paid for them. Don't people buy PO for the lower than new price? I could see buying PO to get, or not get features that the new trucks have or don't have, but I can't see anyone paying more for PO over new.

That's what else I'd like to know, and did they get top dollar on the sale.

How does CV make money operating like this? I would believe CV has far less overhead than any traditional dealer CarMax included, even after paying someone to transport vehicles back and forth.

Who is Carvana hoping to sell their business to?

Too bad there is really no way of telling if someone sold to Carvana and how the process went. Or how much they got.

    We should work on this.

Carvana's financials are trash and that's what no one wants to talk about. I do wonder if at some point the checks will start bouncing.

So that’s number one. Carvana is almost solely online based. I mean they have a few “vending machines” but that seems like a marketing gimmick more than anything else. So overhead is very low.

Right now Carvana still has yet to turn a profit from what I’ve read. They lost another ~336 mil in 2019 I think. So what I think is going on is they are trying to corner the used market at a grandiose scale which in the long run would turn a profit for them. Couple that with offering a smoother, faster, more instantaneous buying experience over the archaic dealer experience and you eventually turn a profit.
