He probably knows this and is asking along the lines of if you don’t have the outer tie rod be the weakest link (and easy trail repair) then the inner becomes the weakest link which sucks to change out on the trail

I had my inners and rack have issues before my outers. The side loading and harsh side hits really does a # on the inner and rack seals as well as flexing of the rack and potential breakage which we've seen before outer tie rod failure. You also have the point of rack "tooth" jumping from big tires and bound before an outer tie rod has issues (again something I experience on a regular). IMO the heim now just adds a little more strength over the stock outer tie rod but adds more flex before bind and gets rid of on of the potential killers of travel when going LT. That's just how I see things from what I've experienced.

IMO the point to this kit is getting the stock spindle as close to a custom fabbed one without the huge costs associated and the gusset design without the double sheer looks to be a little better than the TC. I'll have them both side by side to compare. So again I stand by in strength and clarify it as spindle.

@81Trekker if you are looking at doing a 3.5"-4" LT with fabbed spindles I'd definitely be interested especially if we could get some more ground clearance and it pushed the axle forward even more like the MC kit but also gained the caster like your current set up compounds with the LCA mounts.

Yeah he mentioned something about a +4 but also possibility of a fabbed spindle and reoriented uniballs to allow better articulation.

I’ll gladly make one if someone wants to pay for it. I would also cut the coil bucket out and start from scratch to fix the caster change issues with the taco

Is Stainless to brittle for a automotive application?
I’ve always thought if it being to brittle. Hence using a Grade 8 or 5 to let the bolt or component bend before braking?
I only ask as I’ve had SS bolts disintegrate on a pan hard rod in a Fbody Camaro at the drag strip. Hard launches made the bolt shatter and the SS heim shattered also.

Without going in depth into material properties, "regular" stainless alloy bolts that you would find in a home depot aren't strong enough to be used in suspension or steering applications.

Honestly doing a custom spindle kit on a Tacoma doesn’t make a lot of sense. At the end of the day the truck still has a V6 and it’s heavy. It gets to the point where if you’re going to do a real front end you might as well do a V8/4l80/atlas/9” so all that’s really left is the cab and half a frame.

The pelf skid works nicely with the LCA kit

And at that point why are you using a 2nd gen taco cab? There are nicer, more comfortable interiors.
