It's party time - annual TEC Fall Run is here! :jellydance::kona::annoyed::burnrubber::drunk::facepalm::headbang:

    October 2 - 4, 2020.

    20191005_192102.jpg

Goal of this trip is to do trail South Trail (TEC Adopted) cleanup, pickup all waste and garbage at the end of 4WD season. South Trail is stock friendly, but I highly recommend either to have skids or/and 33" tires if you plan on doing South Trail.

Optional locations to meet on Friday:

    1) ONroute King City Travel Plaza - 12001 ON-400, King City, ON L7B 1A8
    2) ONroute Barrie - HWY 400 North, 201 Fairview Rd, Barrie, ON L4N 9B1
    3) Petro Canada Gas Station- 35 Lone Pine Rd, Port Severn, ON L0K 1S0 -> personally my favorite one, it's got Hero Burgers!
    4) Shell gas station - 114 Bowes St, Parry Sound, ON P2A 2X1
    5) Ardbeg logger station house, - 1294 ON-520, Ardbeg, ON

    DAY 1:
Campsite location for the first night.

    Black lake
    Campsite #1

45°38'16.5"N 80°10'13.5"W -> please see map below, every person should park as compact as possible, make sure you don't block waterfront area for vehicles to enter/exit. Red arrow is where you are going to enter Black Lake from. Tents can be pitched behind in the woods or at the beach area. There is lot's of parking options. Fire pit is going to be set up at the beach.

Those that arriving Thursday, please secure beach spot if you can or message me about camping situation asap.

    Black lake
    Campsite #2

45°38'08.5"N 80°10'11.9"W -> second option, if you are new and never been at that location make sure you have somebody who is familiar to that location. It's bumpy there!

    Round lake
    Campsite #3

    45°38'55.0"N 80°10'44.8"W, plan B

    Dogfish lake
    Campsite #4
    45°36'34.1"N 80°08'48.0"W, plan C

One of those camp sites is going to become our base camp for the weekend. Means you can leave your vehicle and go with someone else to clean up the trail or just generally enjoy outdoors.

    Day 2:

Split into groups and do the South Trail, offshoots and fun climbs. Collect garbage and clean trail. Return to the base camp at the end of the day. Dinner, 4wd chit chat and a fine bottle of Ardbeg!

Goal of the day is to collect all garbage, dead firewood and enjoy outdoors.
My personal one is to fill and smoothen second bridge. If you have sand bags and shovels, bring them with you.

    0BEE3C92-9510-4A38-8256-507390E6313F.jpg

    Day 3:

Finish up and pack all gear and garbage, head out back to civilization.

    Some information:

    - It is going to be cold to camp, bring firewood, dress warm, it may rain.
    - Bring everything you need for camping, plus extra food for me. :hungry:
    - Have tow strap and recovery points available, few sections can be muddy at this time.
    :mudding:
    - There is no washrooms or showers, bring your own toiletry and plan ahead.
    - Most importantly, bring yourself and help us clean South Trail!

Drink responsibly and don't drive on trails under any kind of influence. There is no excuse for that.

Speaking of drinks, to uphold last year tradition, there is going to be 2 bottles!

If you have any questions, shoot them here. See you all on the trails :canada:

    !!!CLEAN UP INFORMATION AND REGULATIONS!!!

    • Each group is going to have gloves, garbage bags and a bucket (for glass and sharp objects). All supplies provided by TEC.
    • Each group should have at least one shovel (for removal of sharp objects etc), please bring your own if you can.
    • Each group is going to have designated camp spots along the trail that they are doing which must be checked and cleaned from garbage in the fire pits and around camp sites.
    • If you see something that you are not comfortable to pickup or remove, let others know. Report back to me at the end of the Saturday day and we can come up with a plan for Sunday. For example: there is a freezer that at the end of the South Trail, current plan is to pick it up on Sunday afternoon while heading back.
    • Please pickup all garbage along the trail as well.
    • This clean up is important because OF4WD would like to use it as an example of 4WD community getting together when discussing with local cottage association in regards of trail closures etc...
    • If you see ATV, dirt bikes or faster moving traffic - pull to the side and let them pass, same with oncoming traffic, let them pass. We are not in a rush.
    • Please wear something bright, it's hunting season.
    • DO NOT REMOVE OR TOUCH HYDRO EQUIPMENT
    • Most importantly enjoy the outdoors and wheel safe!:canada:

better we both go as a group since i'm somewhat familiar with the main trail to the campsite so i'd be fine if we show up around 2-3pm.
i don't think that weekend will be particularly busy

Have you been to camp site #1 near the beginning of the South Trail? It's pretty spacious:

    G4RArTFxKTU9NSk9ArMMdPteae8A9AvwSC3Sj10d_fe96169406ab6696bf8fa715c369e19a0c97f2a9.jpg M6eHRerrBQwOWeAoPbVaJH8co9G26yig8xUpbstZ_5243b8c7592bedee596fa4cfa5e601746c969a25.jpg

Access into and out of the camp site is best done in daylight though:

Fun fact: half the trucks in that 2017 group run are no longer on the road, mine included.
