Rock sliders/Slider steps

Anyone have angled rock sliders on their 3rd gen? If so how much of the slider is visible/showing when the door is open? I am trying to decide between angled sliders or getting slider steps. I love the look of the angled sliders just trying to see if it will be enough to use as a step.

Here are my SOS Concepts sliders. I use them as a step as well. The wife if 4’8” and has no problem getting in and out.

No shots with the door open but maybe these will help.

They work pretty good as a step?

 

Not sure how else I can show this but it works for us with dogs and Wife getting into the truck.

The nice thing is with the "kick out" is when wheeling, some rocks get pushed away from the Tacoma. To each his or her own, BUT the kickout I have and the angle works great for the type of wheeling we do.

Just my 2.5 cents.

If you are looking for the "BEST" off road setup then tuck the sliders up close to the frame.

You will get a TON of responses that the way I did it was "WRONG" ....however, I wheel the truck every weekend on mild trails and when it gets "Crawly" My sliders keep me safe!

 

I have @Mobtown Offroad angled. Measurement is the front driver door.

 

I liked the design of All Pro Apex, being very tight to the body, bolt on, high strength DOM, the lightest DOM slider option, and offering a full top plate step. Looks clean and highly functional. I realize mine is a 2nd Gen, but it is the same product for 3rd Gen.

Awesome! Most folks do not show the "Plus/Minus" with the kick out OR the lower degrees on the sliders.

For US.....we have never seen an issue on the trail. Period.

Yes....2 inches in a "TIGHT" area we had to take another line. Literally backing up a foot. Then moving forward a but,

Honestly, the rear "kickout" has prevented us from certain types of damage.

Looks a lot like Flagstaff. I think those can be had with tread cover plates.

 

Can I ask those of you running 0 degree sliders without top plate; why you went that route? Was it purely cosmetic? Why don't you find having a step to access things on your roof or steps for GF/Wife/Kids helpful?

 

My 0s are still on order, but they were ordered without top plates.
I step on ladders all the time, but don't find the need to install plates so that I can use the bars as a step.
Step ladders, no plates.
Extension ladders, no plates.

If, at some point I decide I want plates I can add them.
If you decide they aren't necessary, you can't "unpay" for them.
