What are some good aggressive tires for a daily driver?

I had hankook dynapro atm's on my second gen. They were pretty awesome, especially in snow and ice. Way better in those conditions than my current Toyo AT2's. Much more quiet, too.

I actually really wanted those tires. I have heard good things about them. But where we are they were in limited supply and we couldn't get them. So, I went with the Ridge Grapplers which I like. Will look at the Pirelli's when I am ready for new tires. Price seems good ... but the Nitro's are comparable in terms of cost, too.

I'll toss out another vote for the Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S. They're pretty quiet and are excellent in wet and snow/slush. I've seen comparisons where they also outperform the KO2's in said conditions (although it definitely wasn't scientific). This photo is from my old truck, but I definitely plan to add these to my Taco before winter. Like you, I commute about 90 miles per day. They wore excellent (minus the suspension issues I had up front on the old truck).

Falken Wilpeak AT3W. Great all around tire. Great every day driver and fantastic on the trails. I used to put KO2's on my trucks but Wilpeaks perform better for and were a lot cheaper.

I been driving with 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2 for a month now. When I get over 65 mph, I get a low humming sound but that is expected with all terrain tires which doesn't bug me. It also handles wet road really well compare to stock 265/65/17 Toyo A30 tires. What bugs me is the fact that now the truck feels heavy. When I accelerate, i would have to press down on the gas more now for the truck to take off. With stock tires I was averaging 23-24 mpgs in city. Now I am averaging 17 mpg in city. That's a big gap. I guess these tires are not for me. Any suggestions on what I should switch to?

I have a buddy that swears by these tires. Buys them for his 4 runner and his f150. I have never tried them personally but I have only heard good things about them. For me, the best bang for your buck are the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. BF Goodrich KO2's are $208 at discount tire for the 265/70/17 for the lowest rated tire. Nitto Ridge Grapplers are $190 a tire. The Falken Wildpeak AT3W's are $151 a tire. Hard to beat the price/perfomance of the wildpeaks.

Has anyone seen these cheaper than $227 each? I'm thinking about these to replace the KO2's I've been running.

I'll put in a third vote for the AT3 4S. At least, that's what I purchased just last week. Still need to get them mounted on my new 4Runner wheels.

I did some research while waiting for the truck. I wanted something a little more aggressive looking without destroying gas mileage. So my requirements were weight, snow rating, and quietness. I've attached a spreadsheet I made up at the time. The three tires that are highlighted fit my requirements and were recommended in a test performed by Tire Rack.

My wife says I have a spreadsheet for EVERYTHING. I'm not sure what she's talking about.......IMG_7755.jpg

Some great choices in here. I like my Wildpeak AT3W, but have a hard time finding the right pressure for them, though I haven't tried a chalk test yet.

But looking through all these tires, and considering what I'd get for my next set, I'm wondering why 265/75 or 80 on a 17" rim isn't an option? I love the width at 265, but would love a bit more sidewall, and can't seem to find that without going down to 255. Even 285s aren't truly 33"...

Seems like 265/80r17 would be a great size.
