Serious customer service. After looking online I think TM fubar'd the M2's though and sounds like this has happened to a lot of customers. I'm happy with how they have handled this (of course!). I haven't gotten far enough into the warranty process but I do believe I have to send back my M2's.

That’s still pretty damn cool for them to own their poor quality on that line and replace the whole set. I’m a Ping fan, but I’ll be keeping TM in mind for the future

TM isn’t the only manufacturer with caved iron faces. I saw it on Callaway irons when I worked at Golf Galaxy... and I only worked there 3-4 days a month; I’m sure there were more. Maybe hollow cavity iron construction is better more, but it didn’t give me the warm and fuzzy 3 or 4 years ago.

Good (and bad I guess) to know other brands have had similar issues. Hopefully these SIM Max irons won't have the same issue. Trying to break into the 70's here damnit!

Save yourself LOTS of money and look at Maltby irons. Get fitted, get the ACTUAL club length and lie angle (not just the adjustment from “standard”), order a long iron and short iron (they assemble for free), and see what you think. It’ll be a $100 experiment that may save you $1000.

I've always like my Cobra irons, but then again my scores in the last couple of years have been hot shite lol. I could tape an old 8-track to a piece of rebar and probably have a better round with the way I've been playing.

Well I am getting the SIM Max irons under warranty so no out of pocket expense for me. I also did have my original M2's fitted so I just transferred my specs over to the SIM Max set. This was years ago like when the M2's just came out so I can't remember all what they did to "fit" me to the clubs though.

Good point about the warranty. Didn’t consider that aspect of it.

Actually now that i'm thinking about it i'm not sure my clubs were "custom" fitted. I went to a golf store here in San Diego and swung three different sets of irons on their simulator. The golf guy 'analyzed' my swings with each brand irons and we settled on the M2's as a best fit for me. Aside from that maybe there was no custom or fitting of the clubs to me. You mention club length and lie angle.... not ringing a bell, lol. I also don't remember paying any extra for anything so that's probably true.

The fitter would have changed out heads (with different lie angles), and maybe shafts lengths to optimize ball flight. Then they would have taken a final reading of club/turf interaction by placing a piece of strike tape on the bottom and face of the club and had you hit a ball off of a lie board. The board and ball would have left a mark on the tape.

If you walked out of the store with the clubs, you didn’t get custom fitted. A custom order would take a week or so to be processed, produced and delivered.

Ya I had to come back to get the clubs roughly a week later but I honestly can't remember if there was a lie board or tape involved. I think I had to come back only because they had to assemble the clubs but I could be mistaken.

I did crush the M2's in their test set configuration, lol.

Overall I don't think I'm that great (15.1) handicap but on a good day I can shoot low 80's... so I think I'm content with whatever. My last 5-8 rounds have been hit or miss but I think it's because these clubs are failing. I looked over a couple other club heads and they are starting to show signs of caving in.

Sounds like a partial custom fitting. Might have had the shaft length adjusted from standard, but probably not the lie angle.

I used to do a little demonstration for people that didn’t think they were good enough for a custom fitting to matter. It didn’t matter how bad the swing was...the club head was delivered to the ball in a very repeatable manner. I could show that with the strike tape. If you have even a modicum of athletic ability, it’s surprising how your body makes minute adjustments at the very last second to deliver a repeatable result.

The result may be less than desirable, but it’s repeatable.

Interesting. I have wanted to get clubs fitted to me, but like you said, I don't feel that my swing is consistent enough that it would matter. Maybe I'll get fitted for my next set.

Went to the driving range over the weekend to figure out some stuff with my Driver... while there I really took a close look at my irons and not only is the 5 iron failing, but my 6 and 7 are starting to show signs of face caving and the rubber insert popping out. Glad i'll be getting a new set. Got the confirmation email they will arrive by 9/8 and for those who asked, yes they do want me to send back my original clubs.

On a side note my dumbass had my driver set to the wrong settings so I adjusted the little notches to Standard lie and Draw settings.

Well had my maiden voyage with the new SIM Max's. They were amazing. Was hitting them pretty good, even hits off the toe went straight and just didn't have normal distance. I actually shot my best round ever without ever hitting them prior (never made it to the range). This was on a 129 slope course:

I'm Greg K on the card (Middle score):

Nice! I played on Sunday and it was miserably. 103 and humid the whole day. Luckily we didn’t have to wait between shots after the 3rd hole which was nice. Shot a 97, which I’m surprised I even broke 100 with how poorly I started the front 9.

OMG, it was brutally hot. We played Rancho Bernardo Inn in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego. Literally no wind/breeze just pure sun beating down on us. I'll never pass up an opportunity to play golf tho, lol.

We would get a very light breeze every now and then and it felt great when it came through but most of the day was just dripping sweat. Wish we had gotten a Saturday tee time as it was like 20 degrees cooler than Sunday. But can’t complain about a round with my pops before we flew back to Virginia haha
