Clearly not a 1911, as the safety would prevent this. The safety comes off as the gun is transitioned up. Or, it’s just an ignoramus with crappy training and it doesn’t matter what the gun was...

    Tex Grebner, registered dumbass.

First, anyone that thinks it's a real good idea to stand 2 feet from a target and practice "quick draw and fire" is a moron.
Second, using a holster that locks the gun to the holster by the trigger guard and requires you to push a button to release is flirting with repeating ole Tex here.
Third, he didn't shoot his dumbass self because he was using a 1911. He shot himself because he's a dumbfuck.

Tex Grebner with a 1911. Blamed the Blackhawk Serpa holster.

I carried my 1911 in the same holser. The button is above the trigger area.

I have one for my G19 in my center console. Fits perfectly and my hand goes straight to the gun after popping the center console. I don't want my leg bumping a firearms under the steering wheel. There isn't a lot of room down there anyways. Don't need to rack the slide because you always carry with a round in the chamber and, unlike what 1911 man above believes, striker fire pistols are completely safe to carry with one in the chamber as nearly all NDs come from fingers on the trigger.

If you understand the safety mechanisms in a strike fired pistol it becomes inherently clear why it will never go off with one in the chamber as long as the trigger is not depressed.

Yes it is. And I don't have a problem with the Serpa. But the potential problem is that when the release button is pressed by someone like ole Tex playing fastest gun in the west, your finger is on the button as you yank the pistol up...as the pistol is leaving holster your finger remains at the same spot but the trigger is moving upwards...as the gun clears the holster and you are still pushing hard on the button, your finger can easily enter the trigger guard and cause a negligent discharge.

Totally the fault of the user. It's like: "Shit we have to put a warning on this box of razor blades that says do not eat razor blades, because people are stupid"

True. And that's partially why they are attributed to so many negligent discharges, people believe that it's impossible for them to fire without a finger being on the trigger which is not true. Overall it is a very safe design, but not idiot proof, and there is no shortage of idiots

There was a LEO that discharged his Glock on an elevator in a hotel. He was in plain clothes and was attempting to holster his Glock. Part of the windbreaker he was wearing got inside the trigger guard, as he shoved the gun into the holster it fired. The video was everywhere at one time, probably still is.

I'll leave the serious discussion of airbag injuries and negligent discharges to more serious folks. Me, I always wanted to put a magnetic mount on the ceiling over my bed. I've got several reasons; First, nightstand is obvious place for a gun, who checks the ceiling? Next, it gives a new meaning to 'jump up in the middle of the night'. Finally, you get to fall asleep looking at it for peace of mind.

Clearly none of those are great reasons. Having a magnetic mounted pistol on your ceiling is just an amusing thought, not something I'm ever going to do...

I've used my Mosin-Nagant to close a vent in my vaulted ceiling.

Magnetic mount for the Mosin-Nagant on the truck. Use it for self defense, CB antenna, high-water crossing paddle, jack stand, traction board, awning pole, and more.

Think hardcore aeronautical. It’ll fly through the air. It’s why I keep pens and pencils and other crap on my dash—I’m hoping an accident will put something through my head a la The Dark Knight. Duct-taping the fun to the truck would be better than going full magnetron, as I’ve said before.

Glock + a proper holster covering the trigger mechanically can never accidentally discharge
Wait, are you saying you can defeat the safety mechanisms in a glock without a finger on the trigger? Or are you just saying things can get caught in there other than a finger and lead to a ND. If the former I would be interested in hearing more? I am in the camp that a glock is drop safe and will only go bang if you pull the trigger and defeating the other safety along the way before the striker goes forward.

A 1911 is designed to be carried cocked and locked. It's the only way the safety can be engaged. Any "expert" that says otherwise is clearly not an expert.

I don't like the idea of using magnets on my weapons. Internal parts become magnetized after a while which will lead to other issues.

Kind of a tangent but I saw of video of FN9s being discharged by tapping a hammer on the back of the slide. That really bummed me out because I love the look of those guns

anyone know if FN fixed that?
