Heck, all the schedules are “interesting” this year. Friggin nascar running the Dayton road course was neat. Not as exciting as I’d have wished, but letting them loose with no practice was a cool idea.

I watched some of the Daytona race this past weekend and the cars looked super slow. But, I always enjoy seeing NASCAR on the road courses. Sounds like Jimmie Johnson wants to run some Indycar races next year too.

I was really hoping to make it to the F1 race in Austin, but no races on this continent this year. I went for the inaugural year, but haven't been since. Already know Lewis would win, but the atmosphere of the race is cool.

Cup cars need big road courses like Sear's Point and Watkins Glen- the Roval was just too tight of a track(IMO). I haven't been to COTA, but I was at the inaugural USGP at Indy way back when.

I’d love to see one in person! Lewis/Mercedes will be a forgone conclusion until the new regs come out in the next gen car. I think Mclaren will be a fun team to watch next year.

I’ve been to a couple of CART races, when that was a thing back in the late 90’s. My stepdad worked for Dan Gurney at the time. Flew out to Long Beach for the GP and then went down to Houston for that one.

Agreed, they don’t have the blinding acceleration that Indy and F1 cars do, so short, tight courses just don’t work for their size. It is an interesting experiment though. And I’m alway glad to see Kyle Busch end the race in the garage.

I miss the LBGP, and the boat races at Marine Stadium. For years- a buddy of ours would throw a part at his apartment, overlooking Ocean Blvd.

I think the highlight of his career was when Logano's tire guy dropped him on the pavement.

I volunteer for SCCA. GPLB is our home track. We get to work it for free. I do emergency services. I could basically have one foot on the track and one off the track. The IRL guys have there own team we just back them up as needed. We do all the other race groups.

Wouldn't Irwindale or Willow be your home track, since LB is a temporary road course?

Actually home track is Buttonwillow Raceway near Bakersfield. We do race at willow and Fontana for club racing. As for Pro racing (IRL) our club does Flagging/Communications and Emergency Services. ES for on track incidents. LB Fire does the rest.

I always enjoyed the drive to Buttonwillow. We used to go by Fontana every weekend, when they were building it. That was a long time ago.

Good luck! Its a really easy job if you can stand the heat. Most of the time your just leaving notices on doors. I'm hoping this lasts through September so I can get more cool stuff for the vehicles.
