Oof yeah if it was a front end accident it could easily have overheated if the guy tried to drive it after the wreck (like if it dumped all it's coolant)

Anyway it's all speculation at least it sounds like its just the head gasket so that's good

    Your trucks overheating?

I remember you had an issue from one of your cylinders.

I mean a HG job at a shop still ain't cheap but at least you caught it before you did some kind of catastrophic damage...could be worse

Nice that it lists the current price on there too.

I have no idea if $10 is good or not.

Amazingly enough, since I changed the rear O2 sensor, the code hasn't come up... the data read is the same but it's not "bad" enough to throw the MIL :notsure:

Smell is still there so definitely still gunna get a new cat

Yeah, thats probably for the better.

Head shop here in KC took $427 to rework my head, and then it was $200 something for the toyota gasket kit with all the gaskets.. I did the labor myself though, so I have no idea what that cost should be. At the usual hourly rate, and my number of hours, it would have been ridiculous

Yea absolutely, I'm in the group that believes any head should be resurfaced when putting in a new gasket. It's longest lasting to have both the block and the head resurfaced but that'sway more effort and money so at least getting just the head resurfaced, the gasket only has to deform to any inconsistencies on the block. A good shop will check on a truly flat surface with feeler gauges and let you know before hand. A REALLY good shop will be willing to weld a cracked head if it's repairable.. but then you're paying for flat labor and they won't (usually) put a guarantee on it. They're more than likely try to push you to get a new casting because its a CYA move on their part
