Long day at work yesterday, was chillen, I generally dont drive much faster than 65mph anymore really...

I run up 77 to 485 on Tues/Thurs to get my kid...she is still in daycare up on prosperity.

Anyone live in the Steele Creek area? About to go look at a house down there in a few min.

I did for a year, back in 2011, hated the commute on 77. I do like Rivergate, it's a pretty cool spot.

I think @SC2SC might live towards that way?

It was just too far south for me. That whole area has terrible traffic almost all the time.

more developed than the middle of fucking nowhere I live lol. It's close enough to Wylie but inside NC. It's also been a good 3-4 years since I spent considerable time there. Seemed cool. Had some bars, chain food spots (Chili's, etc.), shopping, BBQ, but wasn't super developed just yet.

This is more Northern side of the lake but yeah agent did say the traffic could be a little rough in the mornings. But I WFH, and Holly has a lot of flexibility in what time she goes in the office, plus plans to WFH more too moving forward.

it's pretty close to 485, she could take shopton over to 485 then 85 to freedom into to 277 into uptown :notsure:

you're gonna miss being so close to stuff though, you'll have to drive 10mins to get anywhere.

I've considered that, but the only think I think we really are going to miss is the walk-ability of where we are now, and we dont really even take advantage of that the way most of the neighbors seem to.

Also, since you are planning on kid(s)...neighbors...you want neighbors with kids.

That's a big driving motivation for us to move...we want to be in an older established neighborhood with other parents and kids. Right now we have to drive 30-60mins to get anywhere for Savannah to go play with other kids...that and the school system is a joke where we are. I'm not sending my kids to bum fuck Cherryville schools. The elementary school is in the middle of a cow pasture and looks like it was built around the same time as my house.

This is the absolute reason we bought where we did, for the schools, 100%, no other real considerations. kid has 1 year left, opens up more areas / opportunities.

That's part of our motivation to move. There are very few kids in our neighborhood, and it's just not really safe enough to be letting kids play unsupervised even if there were. Our schools are also terrible here. Plus, I'm a bit of a square peg in a round hole in this neighborhood. I mostly get along with my neighbors but there are several subjects that we have a mutual understanding not to discuss.

If we stayed here we 100% would be sending kids to private school.

The EXACT reason my ex and I chose the house we did. Top schools, a little land, and kids their age. Neighborhood is like 50 houses max.

If we could get into the Poplar Trails neighborhood, we probably would...very few houses ever go for sale, and when they do they are expensive. There are a couple FS right now, but not a big fan of them.

I wish my mother in law would have this same understanding. All she talks about when she comes over.

I have always loved Pop Trails. Cox Mill district is highly sought after, and people pay a premium for the schools, if one ever pops up.
