That's the best looking new Tacoma you could buy for the past two years. Something about those silver access cabs.

yeah it just makes no sense to buy the fancy higher trim models then beat the crap out of them off-road, unless you are doing hard-core rock crawling and mud mud bogging every weekend you don't need all those fancy gadgets. I am going to be using my truck as a daily driver, but for some low to mid level offroadding on overland camping trips

Yup me too, Daily Driver, Weekend warrior, Camping, Running Sandy Beaches National Forests.

I didn't buy my Taco for resale I bought it for longevity.

You add some AT tires a simple shock and Spring upgrade a winch and you have a capable off roader. Capable as any TRD OR.

You know what turns my head more often than any mall crawling 2020 trd pro with every mod known to man? The dude who has been driving his 95 pre runner for the last 25 years and has god knows how many miles on the engine. He’s got scratches and dents galore and some run down A/T tires and that’s it. I want my 2020 SR to look like that in 2045, I don’t need to buy the next new shiny truck with all the tech, I need a tool that can get me from home to work to the campsite to the river and that’s it.

What was that weird fleet only option they used to have for the SR trim, I want to say it was basically an SR but with a V6 DCSB? I forget

I think its funny how people with TRDs try to remove the chrome and debadge to make it look like the SR. I like my SR, i knew i was gonna get new wheels and tires and a new radio so i didnt see a point in paying for the SR5 or TRD.

Hold up there is an SR double cab long bed?!?!?

Didn't know that was an option until you got up to TRD or higher?

Definitely long bed, you can tell by how far the wheel is from the back door. SB boxes the wheel well almost touches that door.

Here is my bone stock truck. Came with some off-road dealer options package. I took off all the logos and decals so I don't have to wax around them.

Most folks go out and buy a "name". I have to have TRD, I need an off road, Its gotta be a pro. Granted some folks do need some of these features, but in my experience people buy higher trim models because of the look and the stickers. Cant justify spending 10 grand more for an off road just because it has an elocker that I have no use for. My father in law did this. Had to get a trd off road -- he "needed" it. 80k miles and aside from a dirt road or 2 it hasn't left the pavement. I guess it all depends on what your actually doing in your truck.

Do they offer the SX pkg in Canada? I like the 265s on my truck as well, gives a really nice stance imho. Are you going to add fog lights? Anyway, good lucking truck. Congratulations!

one of my favorite things is seeing beefed up trucks at camping grounds with the latest and greatest just to park on a paved parking spot right next to some college aged girl's corolla.

LOL, my daughter in college had a 92 corolla, used to take it camping. Named it Norman. Normans pooped out his tranny at about 250K miles.

the pickup segment is the highest grossing category for automotive manufacturers across the board, and it's the highest grossing by A LOT.

(simply: pickups cost less to produce and carry a larger price tag than other vehicles).

compare what's the same and what's actually different between a $26,000 SR and a $48,000 PRO... the appearance package(s) and those extra bells and whistles end up costing buyers quite a bit relative to the standard price of the vehicle. and it's not like buyers get an 'exotic' or even 'tuned-up' drivetrain for their money like they might with some other brands... so in that sense, i feel like the SR is a genuine bargain within the segment. when you look at (anecdotally) how many mid-range to top trimmed tacomas are on the road compared to our lowly SRs, you can begin to extrapolate *why* the segment does so well financially for toyota (and other manufacturers).

now i don't judge when somebody wants that trd lyfe — everybody splurges on fancy toys and gadgets in one way or another... if trd stickers will make your heart happy, then you shine on!

but personally, and i know i've said it here before, i think the letters "T-R-D" don't mean a damn thing. "racing development"?– who's racing?– and where? trd hasn't been relevant in motorsports since the late '90s... these days toyota even uses a different racing moniker: GR (gazoo racing). while trd may have had merit once upon a time, today it's been diluted into a marketing gimmick. but the people... they frigging love it!$!$!$

    that's my rant.
