Installing mine early next week. Ordered Monday from @HeadStrong Off-Road and they were here yesterday(Wednesday). Also ordered a U bolt flip kit from wheelers the same day and it has yet to ship (now Thursday). I’ll always buy from Headstrong, just wish they carried U bolt flip kits and Timbrens

@kasnerd I just sent you a PM regarding the pads. They are $12.99 w/ free shipping for 4 so you should have gotten more then you say you received. We sell them in batches of 4 since people will need 2 per add-a-leaf when fitting that new leaf in the pack. Feel free to respond to my PM and we can get this straightened out if need be.

With this said I am personally sorry that your upset with the products.

FWIW we have seen inconsistencies in arch within the majority of leafs regardless of brand.

On the upside, I do think they are trying to help resolve the contact issue with the thicker liners. Other manufacturers do very little if nothing to help mitigate this.

    Thank you, Marie.

One other thing...this is how ARB does product quality management. ORDER EXTRA bushings. Their product pages show two bushings and two sleeves, but when you get them there's only ONE sleeve and two bushings...hope you didn't need the right amount to install or anything. Guess things must be different on the other side of the equator...

I am not entirely sure I follow this. Their OMESB108 (the bushing kit part number) comes with two bushing and one sleeve but it does say you need quantity 2. This is most likely because their old CS047R leaf springs came with bushings pressed in on one side. Some leafs still come like that and others, like Tundra, come with bushings pressed in on both sides.

We sell them as pair though so people don't have to order quantity 2.

ya, its probably their cheap packaging and the sleeves fall out. I went to another local supplier (not ideal and they are really expensive, retail) near to my house to check and sure as shit, all their bags had only ONE sleeve and two cushions. The owner of the shop was royally pissed and was on the phone to ARB before I walked out the door after they had to open another bag to make it right. It's been like this every time I've dealt with ARB and their customer support, the guy I talked to brushed me off like I didn't know what I was saying and told me to contact the vendor I purchased from.

That rubber buffer splitting off from the factory says it all. I had a set of DAKAR heavies on my built 3rd gen. Just took them off and replaced them with Deaver Expedition Stage 3s. It's night and day. Not even the same ball park in terms of ride quality and performance. They don't make any noise, but that it secondary. You pay more for them, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. I was shocked (pun intended) at the difference.

My used Dakar heavies are posted for sale for $250 in the 3rd gen. classifieds.

***EDIT: Huge props to Headstrong for being totally transparent about products they carry, airing the good and bad. This is at a potential detriment to their short term sales, but builds trust and long term customers. Doing it right. Thank you, Marie and team.

Sorry to hear that! I have heard there have been some lead time issues so hopefully you get it sooner rather than later :)

I have the original Dakar’s. They squeaked for about a week one time when they got really dirty. Haven’t had any noise from them in years. Been installed since 2012.

    @HeadStrong Off-Road

Does anyone know what weight rating is for the the old OME Dakar CS047R leaf pack? I also have the D29XL AAL installed and am trying to figure out if the new OME heavy duty (300kg) leaf pack EL112R will be equivalent to what I have or if I’m going to need a AAL for the new EL112R pack.

I was loaded down really good this weekend and was sitting about 3/4” off my superbumps and could tell I was hitting them over some dips on the highway. May be time to upgrade if the new pack will be more heavy duty.

    Thanks.

    Hi Headstrong offroad,

I purchase the Heavy Duty EL096R from you guys in October 2018. After a year of owning these, I probably lost almost an inch of lift with zero load on the truck bed. Anyways, I was wondering if these leaf springs are driver and passenger side specific because I am noticing a driver side lean.

Not HS, but the springs can be marked with "+", "-" or "o". Put the "+" spring on the drivers side to help offset the tacoma lean due to battery/gas tank. If "o" then they are even and it doesn't matter.

I'm only familiar with the Dakars, so not sure. Hopefully someone else will chime in.

I have a set of the ELO96R on my 2017 now. The rear driver side shackle is being worn due to contact from the 2nd top leaf. Same issues quite a few others have had. I recently emailed ARB c/s and provided them with the pics and asking why this was happening. They quickly responded and told me to check all the torque specs on the U bolts, which I did and it all was correct. Shackle is not bent or damaged in any way. Pushing the issue, I provided ARB with some links to posts here on tacomaworld regarding the same problem others have had and asked for resolution.

I ended up getting sent new leaf springs under warranty. These are the newer "updated" EL096R that Headstrong started this thread about. The update as mentioned are plastic liners on the leaf clamps and bigger plastic pads between the leafs, BUT exactly the same in regards to the dimension of the 2nd top leaf that hits the shackle. Most of the newly designed leaf clamp liners were smashed/broken during delivery (ARB is now sending replacements for those).

ARB needs to address the issue and change the dimensions of the leaf's so they won't rub. I give ARB's customer service a thumbs up in regards to responsiveness to my correspondence and warrantying the leaf set, but the products not right. Retailers selling them should make it know that this could be an issue, if ARB doesn't make changes. I'm still going to have to take a grinder to the brand new leaf set to get enough clearance. Will be easy to do, but shouldn't need to. I have no issues with the ride of my current EL096 leafs and they are a huge improvement over the stock setup. Pulling my UTV with the bed full of camping gear, the Dakars work great for me and don't see a reason to fork out more $$$ for MY USE, but this does need to be fixed.
