The time has come to replace the muffler on my truck since it sounds like poop. I'm going to replace the whole cat-back assembly. I have an extended cab long bed 4x4 AT. I can easily find the part number for the TRD Cat back and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go with that (if they put the TRD logo on dog shit, I'd buy two in case I lost one), but just for comparison's sake, what is the part number for the regular factory cat-back? I am having a devil of a time finding the part number for the regular exhaust.

Also, any tips on this job? I assume I'll need to cut the bolts and get new springs and a gasket as well. Otherwise it looks pretty easy.

I recently removed the stock exhaust on my Tacoma and put on the TRD Pro exhaust from Toyota. A couple tips:

    - Get an exhaust hanger removal tool to push the rubber supports off the hangers. I used Dawn soap to help lubricate things.
    - Drop your spare tire for more room.
    - On my V6 4.0, there were just two bolts holding the exhaust on the front. They were super tight, but soaking them in WD-40 or something else will help.
    - I did it with the truck on the ground, but used my jack stands to hold the exhaust up as I was taking it off and putting the new on one.
    - The system is one piece from the bolts at the cat and the tip, so you’re going to need to put it up and over the rear axle. It’s a little tricky, but not that bad. I had a friend help, which made it a lot easier.
    - The chrome tip will probably come wrapped up; don’t cut it out of its protective cover until everything’s done. If it comes bare, I’d get some old towels or something to keep from scraping up as you work and move things around.

Be prepared for your truck smelling pretty bad for the first few hundred miles while the new exhaust gets settled in.

FYI 2016 exhaust fit with some mod .Rear hanger needs to be bent about 45 degrees and need to splice on you front half on . Mines a 4dr short bed so not sure will work for you . Got almost new exhaust on craigslist for $40 so chanced it .

Got my TRD cat back installed, was a pretty easy job. Took about 45 minutes by myself at a very leisurely pace. As suggested, I removed the spare tire to create some extra room. Also I jacked up the rear end to give me more room under the truck. There is a soft brake line that goes over the rear axle, be careful not to damage this when fishing the tail pipe section over the axle. I replaced the two bolts and springs with brand new Toyota hardware. I got a new exhaust gasket as well but the old one was stuck on there pretty good so I didn't remove it. The exhaust hanger pliers are 100% essential tools for this, I wouldn't attempt this without those. They make the removal of the hangers a breeze.

So far it sounds really good, quiet at highway speeds. I can hear a smooth throaty sound when getting into the throttle, but its way quieter than my factory exhaust with a hole in the muffler, lol. Got it for $390 online with pickup at a local dealer. It does have a burning smell, I think that's from all the label stickers that Toyota put on it. Once those burn off I think it will smell normal.

Overall I am very happy with the ease of installation as well as the appearance, performance and even the price. Nice job, Toyota!
