Dont get me wrong. My truck doesn't leave pavement (often). When it does I'm not doing anything hardcore, so for me the sr was the most cost effective route. I use my truck to pick up lumber, flooring, pipe, mulch, stone, etc.. I Throw a couple hockey bags in the bed a few times a week, go camping on occasion, and drive 40 miles to work when it snows. Most of the aforementioned tasks (with the exception of picking up Mulch and stone) can be accomplished with any vehicle, but the older I got the less I cared about my sports cars (sold) and I really dont want anything but a truck--- its convenient.

I'm with you on this... if someone wants an offroad, pro, limited then they should get what they want. For the vast majority, however, they really don't fully utilize the options and tech that come equipped on the higher trims.

I ordered an SR from the factory and got it last week with 6 miles on it. Went with 4WD V6 AT 4 Door Short Bed. $31K
    Very pleased.

Added bug shield, mud flaps, seat covers (spill my beer), and a roll up tonneau.

Today I added 265/75R16 BFG KO2 and kept the steel wheels without the center caps.

Near complete, may add fog lights and/or window tint.

Not sure if they offer the Sx package in Canada, I didn't know about it and didn't look for it, but I don't think its available in Canada. I do plan on adding fog lights at some point. If any one can point my toward some solid instructions on how to do that on the SR model that would be great. Up next is a suspension lift, I am going to do Bilstein 6112s on the front at 1.5" lift, and Bilstien 5160s with a 1.5" AAL in the rear.

I like the look of your wheels, very rugged, I kept my steel wheels and might run them in the winter

This is the write up I used for adding fogs.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/nitoris-oem-sr-foglight-mod.451495/page-4#post-14525776

I did the steering wheel off method to keep everything factory. The buy/sell/trade forums are great for buying gently used take off parts. $35 scored me brand new fog lights and bulbs. The rest of the stuff I had to purchase from my local Toyota dealership. Factory bed lights (bottom of Pg. 246 for pics), factory fog lights, all the switches, harnesses, and the turn signal stalk ran me less than $400.

Lots of really great information sharing in this SR forum. People are very helpful.

I went with cheapest on everything from Amazon. The flaps were some off brand molded style using existing bolts, no drill. They were like $39 all 4 i think.

Bug shield was around $45. Seat covers were only $15 (just fronts/neoprene). The day i put them on my son dumped a chocolate milkshake all over them so, phew! they worked.

Did this method for adding fogs. Got the kit off ebay for 50.00. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsRfT2YJF0Y There also is a way to add it like a oem factory that a lot of people on here do taking the steering column apart. I like having the switch on the left side of the dash anyway, one less thing on the steering wheel plus I am cheap so the price worked for me.

EDIT see 2k2 post a few posts above mine.

Does the trd aluminum skid plate fit the 2.7 Tacoma’s? And I’ve seen a trd sale mentioned here more then once when you can get them for a much better deal does anyone know when they do that?

This is the route I would have gone. I just wanted everything "factory ". Best way to do this mod on The cheap by far is to buy the kit off Amazon. $50 gets you every thing you need.
