Something to consider re: USPS. Did you know that USPS is "safe" from inspection? They have to get a warrant to open your mail because it's Federal Mail. FedEx, UPS, and others can simply open your package. Just a thought.

same here, I get mail for 5512, and they get my mail for 5212, I don't think half these carriers can either read or write. Government Job, can't be fired unless gross negligence or theft is involved. I think it really boils down too, they don't give a shit if its dropped of in the wrong mail box or not.

    Same crap everyone else got

Glad I'm not the only one dealing with this crap. They have the mentality of "once it gets the delivered, it's a job well done and not my problem anymore no matter what address it gets delivered to"
After it leaves their hands, its someone else's problem to deal with.

I can only guess I am lucky as I have lived in my house for 15 years and never had a problem as yet.
One of the things I did when I first moved in was to bring the carrier a cup of hot chocolate out on a cold wintery California day. It was brutal my friends, down to 42 degrees.
We have those neighborhood group mailboxes about 5 houses down, and parcel lockers for bigger things.
He always brings any packages directly to my house, rings the bell.
I always keep cold drinks in the refrigerator for days like yesterday when it was 105. My fishing gear as well as regular mail was handed to me.

You may call it bribery, I call it greasing the skids.

I don’t even have a regular carrier assigned to my neighborhood, so anytime I have a USPS issue the post office says they don’t know who delivered the mail that day, since they’re a fill in. Every day it’s someone new. Has been for 6 years, nobody comes twice in a row.

I had an issue a couple years ago with my carrier not taking my outgoing mail. They kept leaving it in the box, sat there for a week before I had enough and called the PO. They said they’d look into it and call me back in 24 hrs. 3 days later I got a call and he said there’s no way to find out who delivered and didn’t pick up, but took the time to tell me that according to their union contract, postal carriers aren’t required to take outgoing mail.

If that isn’t a big fuck you, what is?

All the logistics companies are having issues right now but USPS sucks even in the best of times.

Re USPS. Probably just a few bad apples, right? Can’t throw them all under the bus when it’s such a big federal group. Always more consistent that the private companies. I’ve seen FedEx throw my packages from the curb to the door like a frisbee. My yard is 1/2 an acre. UPS has left packages in the rain. My first USPS hiccup was this past saturday when they neglected to deliver my package that was on the truck. I spoke with the deliverer and bless her heart, it was her first day and given they are understaffed, she didn’t get a ride-along trainer to help her navigate our winding neighborhood. The package arrived fine on Monday.

I worked as a temp city carrier when I got off active duty. I never had anyone show me a route before I drove it. We were typically fill-ins for people that were out and were thrown into the fire. That being said, I don't think in the 15 months I did it that I had more than an handful of issues. There were some days that I'd have to do a route and half of someone else's and I'd be trying to deliver in the dark w/ headlights on.

The interesting thing about the USPS is the testing to be a clerk or carrier is pretty intense.
I worked with a lot of decent carriers and I had a good record myself, we also had a few carriers that just didn’t care either.

I took the postal exam not too long before Katrina. When that happened, they put in a hiring freeze and those tests are only good for so long.

My first post office was Charlottesville Va (locals know how bad they are) and I was hired as an ARC (parcels only) and the city carriers were working 7 days/week usually 10-12 hour days and most of them had only had a day or two off in the last 6 months.
After working there 2 weeks the supervisor started calling me in to run mail, I explained to her that I had never carried mail and technically wasn’t supposed to, she ended up assigning me to an RCA for one day to learn how to case mail and then I was on my own for casing and delivery, I had 2-3 people that would help me with my routes after they finished theirs but those were some long days.

After I moved back south and transferred to to my local post office I was actually trained as an RCA and got to sub on a POV route for about a year before I couldn’t take the politics anymore and left.

Mine has probably expired by now as well, I could pass it pretty easily now that I know what to look for and having practical experience but it was difficult for me when I first took it.

I took and passed the USPS Exam three times. In Atlanta and Even with a veteran box checked I still did not fit the profile they were looking for

That only works if the carrier is the same person. My carrier has been probably 15 different people over the past 2 years.... Lots of turn over in my area apparently.

Due to all the USPS talk in this thread I opted for UPS ground for my PrimaryArms order placed last night. I used USPS last order from them without issue but for the $6 difference the peace of mind is worth it.

UPS does most, if not all my deliveries and I can't remember having any problems. I even usually get stuff early, plus with an account I get emails when my stuff arrives so I can take care asap.

My ups guy is also a gun enthusiast so he knows when certain things show up he takes extra care to prevent theft and its greatly appreciated. Before i moved i had a few incidents with fedex and FedEx was surprisingly easy to deal with but since I moved i haven't had a issue yet and hope to keep it that way

Well just as expected Amazon show my package delivered, it was delivered Usps. Got home, no package. Drive to the other guys house, both my package and my magazine are in his box. None of his mail, just mine. And there was also 2 other items of my mail in my box. So between the 2 of us today, I had 4 items, he had none but half ended up at his house and half mine. WTF? Makes no sense the carrier takes the time to sort the mail and finds my mail only to come across 2 more items with the same address as the 2 he/she previously sorted to my box yet decided they aren't the same place and need to go to a different address. It blows my freaking mind.
