Its interesting to me how hard Northern CA has been getting hit by wildfires in recent years, more so than the southern part of the state which is considerably drier.

On that map the majority of them right now are up in Norcal

Yeah, I saw that. SoCal was hit pretty hard for a few years in a row about 4 years ago I think. It's when I did my solo moto ride up CA and into OR and WA. My route thru SoCal got changed because of the fires then.

The one in Big Sur was intentional.

I don't have any respiratory issues and even I'm having trouble breathing outside. It's really bad out here.

yeah it was like this last year too, we had a couple notable fires but NorCal had that massive Camp Fire that was worldwide news and shut people's power off for days/weeks, destroyed that one city of Paradise and killed a bunch of people

If I were to put my internet expert cap on, I would guess its because they have so much more vegetation up there that's dried out in recent years from the expanding drought. Down here in Socal we are used to drought, born in it, molded by it. etc

Yeah my wife's aunt and uncle live in east San Jose and there are two big fires on either side of them separated by about 8 miles, that could possibly converge. They got evacuated last night. Her mom and dad over in Grass Valley are on watch for evacuation. My mom was saying the same thing in Marina, smoke is really bad.

We just have that one fire close to us down here that I posted pics about last week, still not nearly contained but it's moved more into the mountains away from the city. Smoke is still bad though in the neighborhoods. They deemed it arson too, some homeless guy in a riverbed set another homeless guy's tent on fire and started it lol. Bastard. They arrested him when he turned himself in.

The one big downside to living in a low humidity/high "dry heat" climate...fire spreads like crazy.
