A gentleman is selling Tonnomax Tri-fold tonneau cover (6') off a 2017 Tacoma. Almost no information on their website, any idea if this will fit a 2012 Tacoma (6')?

    Thanks in advance.

I think there is some differences in the tailgate height and flushness. Might be a gap.

I just got a free craigslist 5' OEM tonneau from a 2016. My truck is a 2015. I have not had a chance to mess with it yet, but the 2nd gen does not have the factory threaded inserts for the pins the cover latches to. It appears that I can mount the plates with the pins in the bed tracks and it will work. I have not had a chance to try this yet however. I think there will be a tailgate gap.

I ended up getting a 2nd gen cover off of Craigslist, I wish it was free but unfortunately not. I got some anecdotal advice that there would be a pretty significant gap (vertically) due to the larger tailgate on the 3rd Gen but I have not actually seen a photo.
