Took her to Pilot Rock OHV Trail near Silverwood Lake area. I was pleasantly surprised at how well she got out of the few ruts i got stuck in. Had to use LSD and ETC, but she got me out without needing any help.

 

Light trailing in the Cherokee National Forest (TN) today. My first real off the highway experience with the family. Nothing like you all, but man was it fun.

 

Having fun off the pavement is all that matters. We all have different limits, find yours and enjoy the ride!

 

Any day off the pavement is a good day in my book

 

Weekend exploring outside da house. Needed to get away for a few. Blow hole north shore Maui.

 

Went to the Sierras this weekend, unfortunately I was having too much fun and missed any real action shots but the truck did good. My other rig is an XJ that’s on 33s, locked and so on. I’d say a stock Tacoma is obviously far from a “wheeler” but it freaking climbs around great and frankly it’s the perfect replacement for my old Jeep. I’m happy with my truck for sure.

 

Where in the sierras? I lived in mammoth lakes for 5 years. Always loved getting lost on the dirt roads near the white mountains

 

Oregon - sunset/sunrise in the mountains followed by some brunch on the beach. Loving the hard shell taco life in my old man truck.

I just went to Bear River off 88 to meet up with some buddies. I usually like to go to less popular places but I’ll take what I can get.

 

Got out again last Thursday. More trying to find remote fishing lake access. This time got as close as a 1/2 mile hike-in to 3 of the lakes. There were 4 lakes all within a few miles of each other, but damn all the access points are fully grown over, not even ATV accessible. Still, a good day exploring and the only way to find out as 2 of the lakes have no name, and the other 2 have basically no online information about them.

Did a few short hikes to 3 of the lakes, but not a good day for hiking. Too hot and a 50 pound pack, and zero trails of any kind. Slow going. The area was logged many years ago, and the ground is littered with holes and timber, every step is a potential popped knee or broken ankle.

To the guys that are driving through fire roads to rough desert terrain and off rows hills/bumps at 5mph about what PSI are you airing down to?

I have nitto grapplers G2 265/70/17 I run them at 40 psi on road and 30 off-road but I’ve heard of guys that go lower than 20psi.

 

Hard rock crawlers will go lower than 20 to really give their tires the best chance to grip, but 20 is what I down down to since it offers a balance of really smoothing out the ride at higher speeds and getting a better grip on rocks when you need it.

 

that makes sense, that’s good to know I wouldn’t really air down too much since I’d usually drive to a gas station after to air up but I think it’s time to buy a portable compressor now.

 

Portable compressor is worth every penny. I highly recommend the smittybilt one as it's fast and cheap.

 

Yeah I was thinking of going with that one, it seems cheaper $$$ than the ARB but also not cheaply made like the $30 Amazon ones that would probably leave me stranded

 

If your not going ARB then go with Viair. The only option if not going OBA. IMHO

 

I have a VIAIR and love it. I can air up from 16 to 35 psi in just a couple minutes per tire. Gets the job done and stores easily behind the rear seats.

 

This smittybilt is a great option. I've had it permanently mounted in my truck for awhile now, and have air'd up many many times, and it still works great. I looked up the cfm of this guy and it's just a hair behind the dual air one. For the price to performance you get, it's a good buy.
